Hi,

I have one of those 18 in one Windows 7 ISO's....I can obviously install whatever version of 7 I want via the DVD but, is there anyway I can copy for example Home Premium from the disc and create a bootable USB?

Hello,

Yes, you should export a specific index from the image and then create ISO together with other files.

After that you have an ISO with your desired indexes and you can burn it to DVD or create a bootable USB by Rufus or similar softwares.

Regards,

Nima

Well all the suggestions you gave out were the best, but I would like to emphasis on @iih1's suggestion. I wouldn't recommend exporting some index files before get a specific version of Windows you desire. (might be confusing...)

I will recommend you get a bigger size drive (probably 8GB or bigger, depending on the AIO Windows file). Make a bootable iso for the usb drive then do a usual installations... :)

And yet (I absolutely agree), but Rufus isn't also necessary - just open the ISO package and copy all files and folders to the USB. (NB! USB must be empty and formated) That's all.

To start installing, it may be necessary to use drive selection using the BIOS menu. For the newer computers it is usually F12, older versions Esc, F1, F5, or Delete. Some pc may be otherwise. See yourself, what option you have.

Doing that only? Will that make the USB drive bootable? Rufus makes your drive bootable, that makes it easier for installation

Do what you want, the result is the same. Sure you can use Rufus, you do not need to own something to think about then.

You can also read this, if You are interested: Create a Bootable USB Flash Drive

Simply copying files from an ISO to a USB does not make that USB bootable, you still need to diskpart the USB and make it active (which is what you link to), albeit the command line alternative.

So "Do what you want, the result is the same.", isn't actually correct.

Either way using the command line / rufus will offer the same outcome, but you have to use one or the other.

Eaxctly... I think he needs to be reminded on that.

You can do whatever you want but you wont get what you want until you understand what you really wanted,

Ah, thanks for the tips...I think I'll just load the whole lot, 64 and 86 bit varieties onto a bigger USB....They're all English and Russian languages as well!....I was hoping there was a software that had a wizard type of thing to allow you to select the flavour you required.....I'm not smart enough to pick out the files needed to make a single OS image.

If I understand you right, you want to install a specific edition windows on your pc.

as you have already seen in the recent posts. after you have made a bootable USB, just load from the BIOS, continue from the installation setup
