smallhagrid
Here's a very nice feature of the OS Community - Nixie Pixel !!:(Disclaimer/warning=> some of Nixie's videos do have blurbs for her sponsors, easily ignored.) She's made some really worthy videos - and not bad to look at either, yes ??This is the 2nd one of a small series, and yes - I'm posting them in reverse, I know:I don't completely agree with what he says in this one.His emphasis on legal krap is just stooopid, but he does also make some very good points: Of course, software-wise there are ways to have multi-user windows things going on, and I've even had a single CPU work for 3 users in a production environment just via CAT5 using some added h/w, but that is a bit unusual for most folks. Here's the original video he mentions in the 2nd one:More in the next post as the vidoes seem limited to 3... smallhagrid
Hmmmm....:This post is hidden because you have chosen to ignore posts by dcs18. View it anyway? Now why would I do a dumb thing like THAT ?!?Obviously this person exists to bring about ill feelings in others, and seems nearly incapable (or at least unwilling) of helping others.I think the 'ignore' feature is wonderful for quieting any stress caused by folks like that !!! dcs18
Now, why is it that the Hagrids of this world fail to instigate with topics such as - Windows v/s Linux.Obviously because nobody gives a hoot about Linux - here's the proof:--http://www.mediafire.com/download/5mi9avv2fjmlzy3/Spot_The_Linux.rar
smallhagrid
Same query, similar thought in response: This post is hidden because you have chosen to ignore posts by dcs18. View it anyway?-*IF*-I visited here in the desire to make enemies - to lash out at others - to show off in snarkiness - then;I might waste life energy viewing such posts.BUT:I enjoy this place because folks from all over the world (or so it seems) share mostly helpful, constructive views and actually do help one another in myriad ways..When I do notice snarky folks at all, they always remind me of a very brilliant programmer I once knew for a time - who sold his code and promised 'support' to those who had paid him...What those poor souls got instead was usually either an answering machine message saying he was busy (because he was off playing during his stated 'work hours'), or if they did somehow manage to get him on the phone he would get very nasty and impatient with them and usually criticized them for not fixing their own problems (though it was about HIS coding).Moral of the story:After a while his only friends in the world were those who were making front-page news after being convicted of very bad things. He went broke as word got to folks about how nasty he was - and given that by then I was far away and no longer in contact with him I know not what happened except that once in a while I was told by someone else from there how badly he was doing.I've had no desire to emulate such foolishness - but I did LEARN from seeing it's poor results. Also, I can say that I was very happily involved with a very nice & long list of clients for over 20 years - who knew they could call upon me for help and would NOT be criticised or otherwise treated badly in any other way, EVER - no matter how much or little either of us knew about anything. The idea was to be HELPFUL.I'm an old guy now - and have found that when faced with snarky (and usually much younger - but not always so) folks, the best thing to do is ignore them. This is usually because their egos NEED to be putting others down and getting noticed thereby.I find this to be a silly game that holds no attraction for me.And so I repeat=>Obviously this person exists to bring about ill feelings in others, and seems nearly incapable (or at least unwilling) of actually even trying to help others.I think the 'ignore' feature is wonderful for quieting any stress caused by folks like this.Lastly I wish such folks well and hold hope for them that one day they may mature and learn that their overt hostility (especially towards total strangers...) is just a sad waste of life energy. dcs18
When I do notice snarky folks at all, they always remind me of a very brilliant programmer I once knew for a time - who sold his code and promised 'support' to those who had paid him...Right, that's Microsoft for you - but, were you really stoned enough to pay them. What those poor souls got instead was usually either an answering machine message saying he was busy (because he was off playing during his stated 'work hours'), or if they did somehow manage to get him on the phone he would get very nasty and impatient with them and usually criticized them for not fixing their own problems (though it was about HIS coding).Sure, that was very . . . . . . . . like Microsoft, you chose the princess, XP - we used her, too.Only, we decided to move on in life to more modern hardware and software (read that as Windows 7, 8, 8.1 Update.)Moral of the story:After a while his only friends in the world were those who were making front-page news after being convicted of very bad things. He went broke as word got to folks about how nasty he was - and given that by then I was far away and no longer in contact with him I know not what happened except that once in a while I was told by someone else from there how badly he was doing. You chose to continue sleeping with a princess-turned-into-ugly-frog - now you wail at the lack of customer-service as though you paid for your XP.Moreover, in fear of growing extinct like the dinosaur, you're now desperate to garner support for Linux while nobody seems interested, here.I feel sorry for you and the ugly frog that you've been trying to transform back into a princess - stop kissing its stinking crack . . . . . . . . . . it won't.Moral of the story:One of the prime reasons why Linux can never ever hope to be a player of consequence WRT the OS market share is simply because Linux Users try to draw comparisons with Windows Users using silly videos as you've done. dcs18
Oh yeah, that was the exact reaction of the community to your feeble attempts at Linux glorification vis-à-vis Windows vilification.
smallhagrid
For those who wish to leave XP behind now, and who are adaptable to some degree for change to something 100% free, as well as very complete - you may wish to have a look at this review: His videos pretty much always have a minute of intro and it is easy enough to skip that part.
