ROMANTICGUY50
My computer finally downloaded update KB2919355 then another update after that. My computer still says Windows 8.1 Nowhere does it say 8.1 update 1.. I don't find it in the windows store. You mentioned a failure in installing the update. :unsure:The first time it failed. Later I downloaded the update and it was successful I really don't see much difference.

Blackchildcx
update kb 2919355 fails to install on my system after repeated attempts. Using windows 8.1 wmc. any suggestionsI would reset the windows update service using Com.Prompt or a tool like windows 8 manager...then reboot and check updates again...If it fails again use tool like patch my pc to get hotfix...good luck! mray88
O.K., so now to re-try a question I had from about a week ago on another thread -- If we downloaded the WZOR release that november_ra1n put up a few weeks ago and now have updated whatever else was given on windows update this week, do you wind up with the spring update in its entirety? There seemed to be some debate about whether you did or you didn't. Some people pointed out a missing file or 2 with that WZOR release, and no one even seemed certain if that version could be updated with the missing files.I guess I'm just confused over whether I now have this update finished or not. How do you even tell? . I do see I have that KB2919355 update if that is what it came down to..... Edited April 9, 2014 by mray88
bruinator
My Windows 8.1 64bit now boots after logging in straight to the Desktop like Windows 7 after all the updates today. It is great. If you go to what used to be the first thing one saw is that Stupid Billboard page and use the Arrow at the bottom left you will now see all of your programs Alphabetized also.It always could boot right to your desktop. You just have to set it up to do it.
dcs18
do you wind up with the spring update in its entirety? The Spring Update is the 8.1 Update 1 which is a beta - you mean the 8.1 Update (check out post # 16.)

Still confused though regarding where you are on this if you started out with the WZOR version of a few weeks back, then added whatever Windows update sent your way this week. If that was your "sequence" of updates do you have the full 8.1, or as some speculated a few weeks back, is something missing if that's how you arrived at your current version of 8.1? Would you happen to know? Basically, I'm trying to figure out if that WZOR update fouled thinks up a bit, and if it's necessary to do a full reinstall of Win 8, or if this 'little bit here, little bit there' approach got you where you needed to go anyway. It's a bit confusing for those of us who don't quite have your computer chops dcs18 :)
dcs18
Hi mray88!!!I actually did not use the WZOR download because it was a MSDN release and I usually prefer the RTM. As you rightly point out, the WZOR release did screw up for many folks.I opted for the Windows Update, instead and the update I received was one single KBKB2919355 of ~ 897 MBs - it installed fine, without incident.Hope that somebody who met success using the WZOR download can help you out. :)

The funny thing is that I'm not seeing anything wrong with my install, things seem to functioning as usual and updates that were on Win Update this week downloaded and installed just fine. Since I had that WZOR install already, this weeks Win Update consisted of about 200 mb of a download. I guess the only thing that's throwing me is that observation that a number of people (as you also were also aware of) seemed to get screwed up with that WZOR download from a few weeks back. The thing is few seem to know where to look for whatever was left out of place from that WZOR installation. Its like one big, kinda humorous mystery. I suppose we'll eventually figure it out -- in the meantime my computer is booting, I'm typing this and I suppose I should therefore have no complaints :DBTW, I'm not the most polite dude in the universe, but being unable to just come out and say thanks now and then is causing me pain. There's got to be some workaround for this new rule, right? Edited April 10, 2014 by mray88
