mike.mt
My first suggestion would be to try to open & re-save with Kingsoft or Libre Office, as this has assisted me many times in the past with corrupted MS files.
dcs18
Latest Microsoft Office suites like the 2013 and the 2007 have their own inbuilt recovery option - disable your security system and then try opening the affected file to see if the automatic option on the left-hand side to recover the document, shows up for you. velsher
Hey anindita_ra1n,According to me, you must first try to repair your file manually. Do you know any manual solution? If no, then I can suggest you with one. "Open and Repair" utility is the inbuilt tool in MS Office which helps you to recover data from inaccessible MS Word file.More details on this topic and steps to execute this utility are given in this link:Repair Corrupted MS Word DocumentsThanks. pr3y
A word document (docx or doc) is essentially an zip file containing many metadata. If you open it using 7z, under dir './word' there's a file named document.xml which contains all the text for the word document. If you open on a text editor or view it on a browser you will most likely be able to the text content.UpdateMost likely if the word document is corrupt there's something wrong with one of those xml file. You can use http://www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_validator.asp to validate the xml tags.Hope this helps
