smallhagrid
My friend & his family have a small site with 5 static HTML pages that I helped them to get online.I've also been doing the updates for them, just using KompoZer.It's been OK for a while now.Somebody told his wife that it is really, really easy to make changes to pics & text & now they want to do the updates themselves.OK.One small problem - these folks are total technophobes - KompoZer is way more then they could handle. They only want to change the text & pics on maybe 3 of their pages every so often, and leave the basic theme & other stuff as it is.I'm thinking there might be a really easy/simple CMS that would import their pages for this, but...Today I wasted hours looking through way too many CMSs and so far came up empty.Anybody here know alot about CMSs who would be helpful & tell me about any that are happy to import existing static pages, please ?!?Thanks. stylemessiah
If you think Kompozer (which i still use on occasion for static pages, and to let my non-tech people update their basic websites) is beyond them, then most CMS's are going to be a complete stretch for them.Wordpress is probably easiest, but if it were me, i would do what i did and spend a few hours showing them how to use Kompozer, my people have managed for 2 years on those occasions when theyve decided to update small bits of text in pages that otherwise never change overall. smallhagrid
Thank You Stylemessiah.Unfortunately there are 2 hurdles in your suggested ideas...We no longer live near each other - and these folks are exactly the sorts who prefer to hear:'Log in like this...see that box ?... you can type in there but not outside it anyplace...that's all !!'I have searched various sites since I posted for weeding through CMSs for them, and 1 that looks promising is Subrion without any add-ins so it is free - I will soon test that one.A couple of really simple other ones seem to be gp Easy & GetSimple. The biggest troubles with CMSs is that there are so many - and unless they are a very good fit for the situation they work like krap.(I've tried a bunch of them for myself and some are really quite awful.)Thanks.
