Recommendations on wiping hard drives?

Does anyone have a recommendation on a good hard drive wiping software that boots from CD/USB drive?

I recently swapped out my parents' aging Athlon XP system to something from this decade and before I take their old machine to the local Goodwill, I want to be sure their data can't be read.

use kill disk its better and fast. (active boot disk, run thru usb/cd )

Just 2 days back i have used this to wipe 160gb data.. which takes some 15mins(with 1 pass)

Note - use always 1 pass only,,,Dont worry,by this 1 pass also no one will be able to get the data back...

those 7x-25x-35x wipeing data is timewaste.

P.s-

use this portable version-- to make boot cd/usb <i have try this only>
