Java Runtime Environment 8

Recommended Posts

The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) provides the libraries, the Java Virtual Machine, and other components to run applets and applications written in the Java programming language. In addition, two key deployment technologies are part of the JRE: Java Plug-in, which enables applets to run in popular browsers; and Java Web Start, which deploys standalone applications over a network. Users should install the 32-bit version if they are using 32-bit browsers. If you use both 32-bit and 64-bit browser interchangeably, you need a Java Plug-in for each browser. Hence you will need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java respectively.

@CPowell46:

Are you using Windows XP?

If yes, then you can use the portable version.

After installing, don't forget to copy the new javacpl.dll located in Java\bin folder to WINDOWS\system32.

Additionally, make sure to add these registry entries:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.8.0]"JavaHome"="C:\\Program Files\\Java""RuntimeLib"="C:\\Program Files\\Java\\bin\\client\\jvm.dll"[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.8.0_01]"JavaHome"="C:\\Program Files\\Java""RuntimeLib"="C:\\Program Files\\Java\\bin\\client\\jvm.dll"
P.S.

Windows XP is no longer supported in v8.

However, it can still be installed through the portable version.

The only thing they absolutely should have done with this release was give it a real auto-update mechanism. They didn't. This means users will continue to ignore those annoying tray icons popping up asking to download or install something called Java.

It's just the most dangerous software on the planet, so you'd think they might have done it by now.

I don't find Java to be useful if you are just an average computer user.

I know how to turn off the computer and open ''My Computer''. I'm a newbie :king:

But Java still security flu.

Ouchhh . . . . . . . . another nail in the XP coffin, goodness me - this is turning out to be a slow torturous death.

Brings to mind the Chinese Torture where one end of an Indian twine rests in the twitching, greedy hands of Microsoft and the other end is lassoed to the lumpen testicle of the Dinosaur.
