smallhagrid
I once had a nice, lightweight speech to text app that worked pretty well.It was a little while back and I quit using it for a while as I was in a non-private space.Of course that PC croaked and I lost it...and cannot remember it's name anymore.I know Dragon and IBM made some big monster ones and that's not what I'm after.I searched on "speech to text" and dictation stuff on the web as well as at portablefreeware.com and portableapps.com and came up with nothing I can use on my XP box.(Deskshare has a free one but it doesn't run on XP anymore...)Tried also searching places like filetram but 'dictation' brings a bunch of MP3s and "speech to text" gets reversed and becomes "text to speech" - which is not at all what I'm after.Any recommendations or shares that anybody here can point me at, please ??Thanks. smallhagrid
Thanks...but:Balabolka........free n good!#Textalout shareware n great!#I use Textalout and you find lots of great voices to enhance it!"Backwards misunderstanding of what I am seeking.Balabolka and Textaloud are Text-To-Speech.What I seek is SPEECH-to-text - as in, dictation - like to talk into a mic to have the words go into an email...Thanks for trying Blackchildcx. mrpink
Maybe it was Tazti that you were using?http://download.cnet.com/Tazti-Speech-Recognition-Software-for-Windows-XP/3000-7239_4-10702965.htmlJust be careful, don't hit the big green download button, but the "direct download link". Or even better install Adware Atomizer before downloading from Cnethttp://userscripts.org/scripts/show/272197The program has free and pro versionhttp://www.tucows.com/preview/513858/Tazti-for-XPXP-Pro-Speech-Voice-Recognition-Software-Dictation-PC-Game-Gaming-Aide-API-UtilityIt has no relation with the word portable though, sorry Edited March 15, 2014 by mrpink
