Windows 8.1 Store and Mail app error 0x80070426

I am pretty much screwed with windows 81 store and default mail app. The concern is whenever you try to install any app from windows store it asks for a sign in. (i am using local account on the machine )

When i click next , it throws an error with code 0x80070426

Or when i try signing in (for individual apps)(there is an option on the page) it again throws me the same error on the next page.

In short whatever you do, u will end up meeting the error code.

There are some discussion about the same on soem forums like mydigitallife and all, but there is no solution other than activating again.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I hope many people would be suffering of same.

you can check microsoft error tool for detail infos about this issue..

I had all apps blocked and license killded by bitdefender yesterday

bitdi flaged kms as malicious.

so I had to restore full image to solve the issue..

funny cause now everythings cool again.

check activation maybe ,

its same issue?

I would not be able to even open any app, excluding desktop and such...

good luck

activation is a concern, was thinking to re-install key afresh.

Coincidentally BitDi here as well , but didn't use KMS, activation done using phone

microsoft troubleshooter doesn't help much, it converges more or less at the same description

Ok I would disable bitdefender and then try to re activate system..

In system properties seems to be activated but it wasnt..

I spend the whole last night to fix this issue

and ended up with an image restore.

If you want a faster solution and if its bitdefender then disable or better uninstall bitdefender

reboot

run activation

setup bitdefender again and run a update of bitdefender and windows

In my case issue seems to be fixed till now (but remember I had the kms service flaged as dangerous, so this could not be exact your proplem!!)

if the issue remains then stay cool

someone will help you through this here @ nsane

4 sure

nicwe weekend bro

Not toyed at all with win 8, but as you've not used the KMS to activate, can you not apply a new key ?

I googled your error code and the below thread was listed within possible solutions.

Just throwing it out there :)

 Try these Workarounds, I hope it helps:
Method 1
Download and run New UI App troubleshooter and check.
Method 2
Check if the date, time and timezone is set according to your time and time zone. Follow the steps to set the date and time:
a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.
b. Type “Date and Time” in the charms bar search.
c. Click Change date and time button (To change the time zone click on time zone tab).
d. Click Apply and Ok to save the date and time.
Method 3
clear the Windows Store cache.
  • Click on the “Windows+R” key simultaneously and type “WSReset.exe” (without the quotes) and hit “Enter”.
  • Now, try to launch and connect to the app store.
Method 4
Check the proxy settings on Internet Explorer.
Refer the steps-
a) Open Internet Explorer and click on “Tools” and then “Internet Options”.
b.) Now, select the “connections” tab and then “LAN settings”.
c) Uncheck the box next to “Use a proxy server for your LAN”.
d) Click on “Ok” and check.
Method 5
Open an administrative command prompt (go to the Start screen, type "cmd", right-click on Command Prompt and hit "Run as administrator"), Type the following four commands in the command prompt:
net stop wuauserv
cd %systemroot%
ren SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
net start wuauserv
Try downloading app again.
(Method 5 is only applicable If your apps are always stuck at pending and will not download, but give it a shot)
Method 6
Use DISM to Fix Component Store Corruption in Windows 8/8.1
1. Open an elevated command prompt.
2. In the elevated command prompt, copy, paste the command given below & Press Enter:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
(This switch option checks for component store corruption, records the corruption to the log file, and FIXES the image corruption using Windows Update. This should take around 10-15 minutes up to about an hour to finish depending on the level of corruption.)
If none of these work, a Refresh is the only way to correct it, as most users have found. :)

Familiar thing, I have had it, and then studied in greater depth. So far as I know, there is not any other treatment if re-installation of Windows. But be warned in advance - if you do not use the genuine Windows serial key, then it repeats soon again.
