Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I wanted to start a new topic which help each other members with there phones which includes custom and stock roms, kernels, Xposed framework and rooting methods, solving bootloop, solving software issues with mods etc..

In this topic we can discuss problems and solve them since some member including myself might be good in solving problems like these. Since smartphone have become popular in the generation and it also have some problems with software and hardware.

I do understand there is a one of the biggest and widest forum for smartphone XDA etc. But not all member in the nsane.forum are member of XDA, so I though I should start a topic where people are already members of it.

If majority of members in nsane.forum feels that this topic is useless and not relevant in nsane community, I will ask the moderator to close down this topic. If you feel that this topic is relevant and useful please like this topic and start discussing. It will be great help for nsane.forum members.

Dude I wanted to ask u one doubt:

I installed bluestacks 0.8.5.3042 and rooted it successfully and installed play store on it also but my problem is that when I try to download any app from playstore it does not download and respond also. Then I have to end the task from task manager. And whenever I try to open bluestacks again then it does not run no single app properly runs.I used the following files:

a) Google play services 4.2.42

b)Play store 4.5.10

c)Google services Framework 2.3.4

Ur topic is about custom roms so I think u might be having idea about this.

You're right. Haven't done that. Won't risk bricking my phone, but rooting bluestacks is a different matter. Host OS is windows. If anything goes wrong i can always reinstall bluestacks.

ok, i think i remember why i didn't take this path.

As far as i understand, the rooting process you've posted doesn't allow changing the MAC address for bluesctakcs, does it?

please confirm

Changing MAC address will allow access to my whatsapp account from my phone and laptop simultaneously

Now that would be nice

Bluestack is computer program based on android system, i think the system is same with android os, so try to clear play store data and clear IP & port address from internet settings.

Hope this help. CMIIW

Im not being nasty, im being direct when i say the following, sometimes people misunderstand

I was born without a tact gland :)

Hey Guys,

I wanted to start a new topic which help each other members with there phones which includes custom and stock roms, kernels, Xposed framework and rooting methods, solving bootloop, solving software issues with mods etc..

Solutions to everything you refer to for pretty much every device is covered at XDA, because theyve been covering nothing but devices for eons. What would you rather, post a problem here and wait for X time for someone to try and help, possibly generate a huge thread, which is only solved when someone googles the solution and finds it on XDA

I do understand there is a one of the biggest and widest forum for smartphone XDA etc. But not all member in the nsane.forum are member of XDA

You dont even have to join XDA to search for help and guides.....even googling your issue will generally point you to several XDA articles...because like ive been saying theyve already been there, done that and have the guides all ready written for you....

Takes 30 seconds to sign up at XDA if you want to sign up and post a question and also participate, and its not like it costs you anything, its free.

Okay, so are you guys planning on duplicating XDA here on nsane....kind of mad if you ask me, there far more help available there, it exists solely for phones, nsane doesnt.......and you might want to check with the admins first. I doubt they want the space and traffic taken up on things that are best handled at a dedicated forum like XDA

It costs nothing to join and takes 30 seconds to sign up over there......

You'll get your problems solved MUCH more quickly over XDA, theres far more people with smartphone experience

p.s. Having been on Android for 5 years, i can tell you from experience that no custom ROM is as stable and battery friendly as a stock one, with the following done:

1) Rooted

2) Custom kernel (allowing things like underclocking and undervolting, changing governors etc) - i use Dorimanx, saves me a ton of battery on Extreme Battery profile with some extra tweaks

3) Root bloatware apps removed (on my Galaxy SII i removed 62 apps from the ROM)

4) Install BetterBatteryStats - get it form XDA forums and its free, get it from google play and its not - thats reason enough to spend 30 seconds to register at XDA

5) Greenify - i used to be an autostart fan, but greenifying apps that generate wakelocks etc is far easier to set up - currently getting about 0.5% p/h battery usage on standby. Use BetterBattery Stats to figure out what apps to greenify

In the last week i tried Revolution Remix and OMNI ROM's and quickly went back to stock because they were both a pain to get up and running and their battery usage was 6 times higher than stock wit the same apps and greenify settings...

For example the drama with going to the above ROM's

Was running Dorimanx kernel on stock and this is the most commonly used kernel - and the secret to great battery usage,so

Dorimanx includes clockworkmod recovery 6.0.1.4 (i think, without rebooting into recovery to check:) )

To get a KtiKat ROM on i would have to upgrade CWM recovery to 6.0.4.5

So having upgraded CWM to that version i installe dthe ROM, gapps and wiped userdata

Rebooted phone...working

Then went to put Dorimanx kernel on it and it failed

The upgraded CWN was blocking it

Downgraded CWM and installed Dorimanx...yay

Until they issued a ROM update and i had to (re)upgrade CWM to 6.0.4.5

Then on course i had to (re)downgrade CWM to 6.0.1.4 to put Dorimanx kernel back on

I tell you this as you can see that the above will be a never ending merry go round and i for one like to use my phone rather than treat it as a plaything, so i went back to my backed up stock ROM

I dont beleive in running a stock ROM just because a) you can and b ) it makes you look cool. I have had stock on mine for 2 years and only recently thought about trying a KitKat ROM to see if there weas anything i was missing out on or better features. Turns out i wasnt, except for the privacy settings which you can set per app....thats the only thing i could find that id like on my stock 4.1.2. The rest is usually visual wankery for people who like eye candy and use their phones as toys.....do i need PIE or HALO and all the funny animations and icon themes to use my phone, no.....its a tool, not a toy.

So i tell you this in general, sometimes youre better off modding your stock ROM than constantly flashing custom ROM's and hoping that just because you can flash a custom ROM that its going to magically make your device better, and then spending your life in XDA forums trying to resolve bugs that didnt exist on your stock ROM.

The exception in my earlier phones was Cyanogen, which was a big improvement on my earlier phones.

So im not against smartphone talk on here, i just think you'd be mad to try and get help like the above on here when theres thousands of folks over at XDA that can either help you or point you to a post or thread where someone else has already been through it and posted the solution. Plenty of guides there for every smartphone known to mankind......

Duplicating XDA here ...not the best idea

I dont want to call it that you are spamming, (i gonna request for your posted to be deleted). You can post it in Technology Talk or Software Chat. Thank you

Have you tried cleaning your dalvik and cache from custom recovery. If it doesn't help try installing from the fresh but do not dirty flash the rom. After installing the clean rom then install Gapps if is not included. But before doing anything make a backup of your data with titanium backup.

Nice. Dude where can I find a ROM for a Motorola MotoSmart XT611? an unbranded one

Is this your phone. Correct? I'm not sure you would be able to find roms with those specs. I would advice to buy new phone at least have 1GB Ram or possible try buying Nexus 4 you will find cheap, not sure though check. This phone is monster and beast. I had previously before my current Nexus 5.

Did you gave Beanstalk a chance, I heard very good things for Samsung Phone. I don't have Samsung Phone, used to have one. Nowadays, I am Nexus lover. Wanted to test some Roms and Kernels.

Check for Redkat KOT49H rom on XDA, easily the best custom rom for the Nexus 4 / 5. I run it on my N4 with Trinity Kernel, Oc'd to 1.78 from stock 1.5.

I ran PA RC3.99 rom on Nexus 4 while back, after that I did bother to install another roms because I love the work PA team does. However, on Nexus 5 PA has their standard quite low, recently heard they are not bringing back Halo which was quite addition and unique to rom plus some other featues are also cut down making for new, will check out when it is out of beta. Current PA is like a stock rom. I did however, used for quite for few days Cataclysm Rom, it was good and fast. But now back to stock rom with Xposed. I love the Xposed framework, and features it has but its kind of security risk.

Not a big fan of Trinity Kernel, I install faux123 kernel for Nexus 4. I wished Elementalx was available for Nexus 4. I have it on Nexus 5, with custom settings.

Yes, I did some searching. It might not be easy or possible even, I am not sure how Motorola worked during those days but now things are different. Buy your mum, at least Samsung Galaxy SII thats a very good phone. I had it previously.
