Unfortunate experience with Windows XP

GCI

Recommended Posts

Well, I guess this is kind of a help/general post thread. If anyone can help, that would be excellent. Anyways, I was having trouble running Sim City 4 Deluxe Edition, so I decided to restart my computer in Diagnostic mode. So I did, and right when I tried logging in in that mode, it said "Windows has detected major hardware changes..." What hardware changes? So I tried re-activating, but the activator said "This key has already been used too many times!" or something to that effect. I tried telephoning in, but the automated computer voice told me that it had an error with helping me, so it forwarded me to a real support person. I was honest when I told them how many computers I had that same key on, which was two, and they told me that it was against their EULA and that I should uninstall it. That is kind of not an option for me, but I don't like lying. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

So what do you mean, your key has been blacklisted/is no longer working? Which version of Windows XP are you using, Pro or Home?

Well, I don't really know what goes in the Microsoft HQ, but I think they have just had enough with me activating that key for now :lol: I seem to remember getting that message before, then it working... idk.

And I am using XP Home SP3.

P.S. If I may be quite blunt, I wouldn't mind a working key/keygen :sneaky:. I think I deserve that, after my own computer threatening to lock down in three days if I don't give it my genuine key, which apparently microsoft has had enough of :lol:

I know there's a topic somewhere around the forum already helping people getting there XP activated.

I think shought and few other mod's have some spare keys that are genuine "You might get a pm from him".

They also might need a few details on to what version the XP is (for the key u'll need)

Yeah well, that's the problem, Home Edition... I've got some Pro keys, but I'll search and try to find you some working Home Edition key.

It also matters if it's an OEM installation or not, this is going to be a tough one.

Thank you so much shought. I'll try and help you, too: The genuine key says OEM Software on it, so I suppose we can draw conclusions from that.

@shought:

Just give him any key, and point him to WGA crack direction :lol:

And I think I would like to avoid cracking if possible, I kind of only find that as temporary, but if worse comes to worse, I think that will be the path :lol:

Was thinking about that...

You've got a PM GCI ;)

(Sending him a OEM and a Retail Home Edition key, should be activated using phone, won't be valid with Windows Updates)

@GCI:

Well, as I always say: each to his own.

However, I already went down the path you're taking...

and I found that using WGA crack is inevitable, since M$ is zealous in blacklisting keys ;)

Wow... I've never really seen them in blacklisting action :blink:. I am a little confused with the activation process you're trying to have me do shought, you have a PM too ;)

@GCI:

Of course you haven't, since you don't download or use OS provided by the warez scene.

A lot of groups provided genuine licenses, but after a few days / months they get blacklisted.

Why? think... what do you think are IP addresses for?

Some Pro licenses(VLKs) will work 'forever' and they are 100% genuine(says MS).

I've heard very strange cases with Retail versions of XP... (for 1-2 PC):

- Installing in it one computer and then installed in another (without internet), and "invalid key".

- Intalling in one computer, change some parts of your hardware, and "purchase new key".

Retail versions suxxx, it's much better getting Pro at 0,00€.

Edit: @Bizarre: IP can be dynamic, so it's not a good system to count how many people share the same key and are updating through WU. And V2C key was valid for about 3 years, so i think it's the best solution for me. Changing your key is very quick and easy with BAT method.

@Jota.Ce

The keys you sent me, they all passed Windows Genuine Activation right?

I've got two more keys to test for you and I also got my hand on a Genuine Office 2007 VLK :lol:

PM ;)

Yes, i tested about 20 keys and i got 7 keys working for me (i don't know if world region matters when activating).

Keys for Pro VLK, won't work for Home, Retail, OEM,...

Can i tell you if they're valid tomorrow ? I'm away from my desktop PC now...

PD: Testing is very easy since i could change keys without even restarting (Advertisement: my BAT method, you know): Change my key, visit one MChofff page, Validate.

About Office 2007, i don't have it (i should say, i won't have it, sticking to 2003), so i can't help you with that. But i have one Office 2003 Spanish with one pre-installed Genuine VLK key, i can tell you that key if you want (with Jellybean, since key is integrated in install files).

@Jota.Ce:

Even if every IP is dynamic wouldn't it be weird if the IP is not in range with the previous country that was using it?

As I said: each to his own.

I'm not really forcing anyone to change their method. I'm just stating the facts ;)

I don't believe they actually check the IPs the validation requests came from, just the number of requests I think. I could be wrong though.

Anyway I'm glad GCI's problem is solved ;)

PM for shought.

@Bizarre: I agree with you in that if one business factory buys one serial for 1000 PCs and suddenly their serial is used for thousands of IPs from hundreds of countries, then it's clear. I should be in Guantanamo for testing 20 serials xDDDDDDD

And i agree with you with each person having his own opinion about how to live with [email protected]

@shought:

In any case they're checking, otherwise M$ got some explaining to do concerning blacklisted keys ;)

@Jota.Ce:

I'll still be using keys, if they were not blacklisted... regularly :lol:

Anyway, I'm just using WGA crack for downloads like GDI+, M$ Visual C++, etc.,
