Trial Reset 4.0 giving error

Hi,

Recently using trial reset 4.0 I begin to encounter an error message in XP SP3.

It is as if it has no write access in the folder it is running and claims no backup can be made.

However the backup function works just fine.

While scanning I found a protection named Exeshield.
Trial-reset lists netcrtl.ini files but they are not real. My file system is fat32. I checked from dos and there are no such file. Trial-reset gives error when I select deleter key.

Any idea what is causing this? I do not want to format and install all the software again. I could not find any info on this situation in google.

Thanks,

Burzek

Had a problem like this in the Past, so I reformatted to NTFS & made my EXE Lic incoporated with windows with old Lic File. No more problems for me

Hi,

I solved it by using Combofix from Bleepingcomputer. Interestingly none of the rootkit detectors found anything...

However, it seems an orphaned file called safeboot-23687203.sys was causing the trouble. It is the only file in the combofix log seems to be out of ordinary.

Glad that trial-reset went back to normal...
