geeteam
From your statement, you stated that you cancelled the process "how could you do such a thing?" well then I guess you have to use Rufus back, do a format and then try making a bootable iso from the drive again, this time around don't cancel anything wait till it completes successfully then you can do a format using another 3rd party disk management software (Mini partition wizard). It says (Rufus v1.4.3.385), Error: Error while partitioning drive. Screenshot please. am not really getting the error

You can follow the link he provides to his faqor try the other fixes that were posted:Rufus Damaged my USB.@mike.mt is right! The author says the same thing. Its not the software. mafmyy
Try this:http://www.transcend-info.com/support/dlcenter/ORT_Software.asp?Link=OnLineRecovery.exeYou just need to add your email and country and it will recover the data if possible. If recovery of data is not possible then atleast it will format your usb and make them able to work again

Please note, i don't blame Rufus at all.Hi @joyfaster.......I admire your persistence buddy plus give you X10 for not giving up.... :)Your symptoms point to the likelihood of corrupted firmware ie. drive locked in read only mode / unable to write...There are some utils available to re-flash depending upon make / model... i have not tested these , but you may wish to Google around to check availability for the appropriate tool & firmware for your stick.Another option would be to ask for assistance over at http://forum.hddguru.com/ in their Flash / Storage section. They are a great bunch of Data Recovery guys who may be able to assist you in bringing your stick back to life..... :)Best of luck!!!! lurch234
If you have recently bought it then how about taking it back for an exchange. With some luck they'll give you another one even if you dont have a receipt :) Edited February 13, 2014 by lurch234
zonar2
Last chance: find a W98 machine. Add the generic USB drivers. Plug the key. The way W98 recognizes usb keys is different from the NT systems. Nearly sure that the key will be seen, at least with a yellow interrogation mark. Then navigate to update driver, format etc.. BTW testdisk allows you to change the geometry of the drive. Coud be tried eventually.
geeteam
hehehe, its your own problem, deal with it. next time you won't even think of cancelling a process when a drive is busy making itself react or lie to the PC that its a CD drive. Good Luck ahead
