Howee Phartz
Yes, I apologize ahead of time for asking about IE 11 behavior, I also use Mozilla Firefox, but this problem is so weird I had to ask someone about it. My wife has a problem with her web based (Comcast) email. The problem only occurs when using Windows 8.1 and Internet Explorer 11. When she logs in to the email, she only has access to her inbox. She cannot access her inbox subfolders, Sent, Drafts, Spam, Trash, or personal folders. Subfolders can be expanded, but she cannot access them. When I say she cannot access them I mean that if she clicks on them (they do show as a link), nothing happens. It does not move the highlight from the inbox to the other folders located in the left pane, the center pane (the current inbox email messages) remains on the current message screen. No content of the other folders ever displays. She can only open current inbox email to read and delete messages, although she can move them to other folders. She can logout of the webmail, and I can log right back into it with my user ID and password, and have absolutely no problems accessing all my personal folders, as well as the sent box, trash, spam, etc. This problem exhibits itself on my laptop as well, where she cannot access her folders, but I have no problems at all. It doesn't matter who is logged into Windows when this happens. Our email preferences within the webmail are exactly the same. Both machines runningWindows 8.1 Pro (64 bit) Product ID: 00178-11200-58810-AB894IE 11 Version 11.0.9600.16476, Update Versions: 11.02 (KB2898785) Product ID: 00150-20000-00003-AA459ESET 7.0.302.26Comodo Firewall 6.3.302093.2976Windows, ESET, and Firewall all running latest updates. Problem occurs regardless whether the antivirus and/or firewall are running. She logs into her machine under her user ID while I log into my laptop using my user ID and password. Both have the same administrative privileges.Have reset both machine's Internet Explorer settings to their default condition, also tried flushing cache, cookies, temporary files, changing compatibility modes, etc. Likewise ran Ccleaner to check for problems and delete cache etc. etc.We are using two different models of laptops, mine an iCore7, while she is using an iCore3. Both machines were loaded with Windows 8.1 within a week of each other. A third machine identical to her hardware, running Windows 7 (though using the same version of IE 11) does not exhibit this problem at all. Mozilla Firefox 26.0 loaded on all three machines does not exhibit this problem for either of us logging in. Yes, I know what you're thinking, so why is he running IE at all. It's just the strangest behavior I've ever seen and am wondering what could follow a user from one machine to the next. Comcast technical support provided no help at all. Just curious if anyone has seen anything that appears to be tied to IE 11/Windows 8.1 and tied to a user's profile. Would welcome any thoughts on the subject, Thanks much ahead of time. front360
By any chance is Tracking Protection or ActiveX Filtering, turned ON? To check click Tools(Gear Icon) then look in Safety. Did you say you already tried to add the Comcast website to Compatibility View?
Howee Phartz
Thanks for replying. No, neither Tracking Protection nor ActiveX Filtering are turned on. I did mention that I tried compatibility view, but that changed nothing. Curiously I did notice something I hadn't noticed the previous times I was in the email. Comcast has keyboard short cuts in the web Email. You can press the letter "V" (while not composing) and it will bring up the folder list, then using the mouse or the keyboard you can select and switch to another folder (ex: InBox, Sent, personal Folder), and it worked when either I was logged in to her email or mine. But without using the shortcut, my wife's email doesn't recognize using the mouse to select folders.
Howee Phartz
:D Problem Solved !!!!I got a call back from Comcast early this afternoon, and they said they found a problem with the account. I asked if they'd go into it more, but they said the person who made the changes to the account didn't tell them how it was fixed. We logged in, and everything is working fine, so it will remain a mystery. Thanks front360 for your reply.
