Sonar
I have both installed.Spybot - no tea timers enabled.Immunized protectionMalwarebytes - protection on / start with Pc.My question is do i need spybots Immunize system along side with malwarebytes?EG am I safe to untick the boxes in spybot for the Firefox protection and don't Immunize Firefox.I'm only asking due to Firefox takes time to open its self when I have Immunize protection set "My guess would be the Host File is getting to big".Edit: Or one easy question. Can i just remove spybot completely and stay safe with just malwarebytes.

shought
If you ask me an AV(like ESET, Kaspersky, Avira) and either a hardware firewall(router) + Windows firewall or a better software firewall(like COMODO) should do for most people. If you're infected with spyware, you'll know. I only use Spybot / Trojan Remover when I feel something's up with my system.
Sonar
Thanks for the reply's.undone the Immunize system & uninstalled Spybot. Now Firefox has no delay opening up.I don't visit many sites anyway only legit ones through bookmarks so i should be ok. but its better to ask :(
Marik
well I have spybot, and I'm not experiencing any delays with firefox starting upalthough it seems to much a few more ram after a while, but i just close and restart it.didn't really thought immunize slows it down
Toshiro
If you're not that of a noob, getting his pc infected with crap.. then I would recommend you to go for ESS + COMODO.. Use Malwarebytes as a standalone scanner.. (scan your pc 1/2 time(s) / month.. should be enough ^_^ )
myidisbb
Malwarebytes suppose to be good. its even remonded on fp. problem is it does not work on vista 64. unless you all know some work around for it. i dont see why the company doesnt make it vista 64 support. their lost.\if they did i would switch to it. the superantispyware patch /key only works on 1 out of 2 vista 64. kind of wierd. but all well. KotaXor
Just remove Spybot using Your Uninstaller.Imagine my surprise....after uninstalling, I found more than 350 entries in the registry for spybots. :frusty: Have to manually delete it. ^_^ (related to ZoneMap)After that I have to manually amend the host file to remove items by spybots.....if you are using Firefox with Ad-Block....you don't need this items that is place there by spybots.Ad-block is good enough! Thanks to Sonar for bringing this issue out! Rock Lee
I only use TuneUp Registry Cleaner and CCleaner's one.:D Tune up's is decent. From my expirience, CCleaner only removed empty keys, basically meaning it didn't do much of anything. If I were you I'd use either Registry Winner or RB2k9 (Registry Booster 2009). They work wonders on my pc (I run them every other week & my error results decrease every time).Of course you dont have to, I just wanted to answer your question on wether or not you should change your registry cleaner. KotaXor
OK....For your info, I use Registry Crawler to find unwanted registries after uninstalling program. In the Spybot case, I just uninstall spybot using Your Uninstaller, after that I type in 'spybot' in Registry Crawler and all the registries related to 'spybot' will be listed. With that I just delete all the unnecessary registry files after going through it. (Just be-careful with what you delete.)
LeetPirate
I have a question along the lines of this thread topic. I have Spybot, Malware Bytes, and Trojan Remover, and EAV installed. I got a mysterious chat window popping up from my msn messenger with loads of people just talking nonsense. I suspect a trojan of some sort. EAV real time protection didn't detect anything. So I used Trojan Remover to scan but it didn't come up with anything. Then MalwareBytes picked up 5 items, all relating to "\windows\ststem32\XMUpload1.0.1.dll". I looked for the file and saw its properties and it was from Xara Group Ltd, which sounds legitimate to me because I use software from Xara.I have to ask, what is going on with MalwareBytes? Those 5 entries look like false positives to me.The next question is whether I need both Malware Bytes and Trojan Remover? Do they both handle the same thing or should I keep both? Rock Lee
Make sure to run a Hijackthis scan before reporting false positives! ; As for the MBAM & TR, you dont need both, but you wont be as strong if you throw out one or the other.

Do they both handle the same thing or should I keep both?Hi fellows,Last couple of months I have been using this MBAM v1.34,v1.35 and now v1.36 (even I had use the same keygen since v1.34)and I'm really happy, So far no false-positve found.MBAM Clean better than SAS(superantispyware v4.25.1012) and NIS2009(Norton internet security v16.0.0.135)in "safe mode boot". Thanks MBAM I get clean from trojan Silly, trojan vundo and trojan brisv when SAS and NIS2009 doesn't detect it in "safe mode boot", which I have report to symantec user forum, and seem like NIS2009 v16.5.0.135 have fix this.BUT return to the topic: I lLIKE TO USE MBAM as a standalone not-alive cleaner or not a guardian (active alive module for protection, sorry my english). Even I have use a script (from help menu) to auto-update without making it self to start with windows everytime I boot the pc.My concern (my question) is it better to have this in active alive module guardian than SASv4.26.1000 (MBAM use like 30mb of ram process and SAS use like 1MB)???The ones who use ESET_S_S or ESET_AV I have read is a good idea to have COMODO as your FIREWALL.I have stop using SPYBOT and ad-aware as they have low detect and low cleaning perfomance.Don't get my words wrong fellows, Spybot detect a lot of false positive and not the more important one, and ad-aware make a slow scan and consume a lot of ram process. In the other hand, MBAM use not so much ram process as ad-aware but make a good clean, even in Quick Scan. BUT if you use the Full Scan of MBAM it takes like 2-3hours. Yes is slow too, but as I said, you can trust they will clean well.So again, my question: is a good idea to use SAS as live-guardian, but time to time (of course when something suspection happend)clean the pc with MBAM?????Anyone who want to download SAS pro v4.26.1000 can do it from mininova or tpbby the way, the only diference between MBAM pro and free is that the first one can auto-update and startup with windows in every boot. The free version is no live-guardin and no autoupdate, the scan is equal.BEST REGARDS JC.WILCOX (aka SABROSOLATINO)

If you have the ram to spare then you could use the active protection on MBAM and SAS. However if you have limited RAM then you could use the active protection on SAS alone, once you keep it up to date it should block the threat before it gets a chance to invade your PC. If it slips through then you always have MBAM to scan for it manually. I have both SAS and MBAM running with active protection enabled together with ESET AV and no conflicts or problems as yet. I had disable the pagefile and never had a problem I occasionally use Photoshop CS4, dreamweaver CS4 and SPSS 17 (all of them eat a lot of ram). tonyblair
What do you think about using Proxies (as an added prevention)?I use two browsers (Firefox and Opera), one directly linked to internet (for clean web sites) and the second through proxy (even if transparent) for unsure web sites.Since months, my system is clean.
