Ambrocious
A recently published Harvard University meta-analysis funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has concluded that children who live in areas with highly fluoridated water have “significantly lower” IQ scores than those who live in low fluoride areas. In a 32-page report that can be downloaded free of charge from Environmental Health Perspectives,1 the researchers said:“A recent report from the U.S. National Research Council (NRC 2006)2 concluded that adverse effects of high fluoride concentrations in drinking water may be of concern and that additional research is warranted. Fluoride may cause neurotoxicity in laboratory animals, including effects on learning and memory…To summarize the available literature, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of published studies on increased fluoride exposure in drinking water and neurodevelopmental delays. We specifically targeted studies carried out in rural China that have not been widely disseminated, thus complementing the studies that have been included in previous reviews and risk assessment reports…Findings from our meta-analyses of 27 studies published over 22 years suggest an inverse association between high fluoride exposure and children’s intelligence… The results suggest that fluoride may be a developmental neurotoxicant that affects brain development at exposures much below those that can cause toxicity in adults… Serum-fluoride concentrations associated with high intakes from drinking-water may exceed 1 mg/L, or 50 Smol/L, thus more than 1000-times the levels of some other neurotoxicants that cause neurodevelopmental damage. Supporting the plausibility of our findings, rats exposed to 1 ppm (50 Smol/L) of water-fluoride for one year showed morphological alterations in the brain and increased levels of aluminum in brain tissue compared with controls…In conclusion, our results support the possibility of adverse effects of fluoride exposures on children’s neurodevelopment.Future research should formally evaluate dose-response relations based on individual-level measures of exposure over time, including more precise prenatal exposure assessment and more extensive standardized measures of neurobehavioral performance, in addition to improving assessment and control of potential confounders.“Studies have Repeatedly Linked Fluoride to Reduced IQ and Brain DamageThere are so many scientific studies showing the direct, toxic effects of fluoride on your body, it’s truly remarkable that it’s NOT considered a scientific consensus by now. Despite the evidence against it, fluoride is still added to 70 percent of U.S. public drinking water supplies. It amazes me that the medical (and dental) communities are so stubbornly resistant to connect the dots when it comes to the skyrocketing increase of cognitive decline in adults, and behavioral issues in children (ADD, ADHD, depression and learning disabilities of all kinds). In fact, there have been over 23 human studies and 100 animal studies linking fluoride to brain damage.3 Fluoride can also increase manganese absorption, compounding problems since manganese in drinking water has also been linked to lower IQ in children.Reported effects of fluoride on your brain include:Reduction in nicotinic acetylcholine receptorsDamage to your hippocampusFormation of beta-amyloid plaques (the classic brain abnormality in Alzheimer’s disease)Exacerbation of lesions induced by iodine deficiencyDamage to purkinje cellsReduction in lipid contentImpaired antioxidant defense systemsIncreased uptake of aluminumAccumulation of fluoride in your pineal glandFull ArticleRelated older article: Impact of fluoride on neurological development in children -Harvard.edu Edited January 17, 2014 by Ambrocious
Ambrocious
As a personal note, the pineal gland is responsible for the facilitation of two very important naturally occurring brain chemicals: Melatonin and Serotonin. Because Fluoride is in the same family as Iodine known as halogens (however not healthy like Iodine is), our Pineal gland has a hard time telling the two apart and so it takes in the toxic Fluoride as a replacement for the absence of a healthy amount of Iodine in our diets. Our Pineal gland cannot properly produce Melatonin and Serotinin if it is affected by the build up of fluoride on the gland over periods of years. Fluoride is bio-accumulative (it builds up in your body over time) and is responsible for a cornucopia of health issues to billions of people world wide. Many of our foods and drinks have taken out healthy ingredients on purpose and replaced them with unhealthy ingredients such as Bromine, which is ALSO in the same family as Iodine and Fluoride, but like Fluoride it too is not healthy for you.In recent news...the United States government bought over 14 million doses of Potassium Iodide for what reason? Radiation levels have been spiking lately in the USA and our own government is not even warning us to take Iodine as a safety precaution but they themselves are gearing up for something. The amount of Iodine you would need to take in during a nuclear emergency would cost you your life if you tried getting it merely from Iodized salts because it would take 3-6 bottles of salt before you reached healthy Iodine levels in your body...but the salt overdoes would end you. A healthy intake of Iodine especially during nuclear emergencies will fill up your thyroid with healthy Iodine and when the radioactive wave of Iodine arrives; your thyroid will be unable to absorb the radiated Iodine which is occurring during nuclear emergencies. If anyone is concerned, research Iodine for yourself, I would not mind suggesting a few things for people who want to know more.Edits: To refine my article. Also check out http://fluoridealert.org/ Edited January 17, 2014 by Ambrocious
Cyberboom
That's interesting :) I didn't know that fluoride is dangerous to our health like that degree ..

locoJoe
I dunno the technical aspects of floridated water, but I do know this:> Back in the 60s when I was kid in school (they) decided to add floride to my towns water supply. (They?!?!?) This was when LBJ was president...it seems that ever since then (they) know whats best for (us). We are too stupid to know what is good or right and we need (their) guidence to get thru life?!?! (They) can blow me! Turk
Study is a retrospective research of scanning and analysing Chinese publications from where the high fluoride level is endemic. Hence, though it is conclusive, practically not applicable for the non endemic part of the world. No prospective study has been conducted since then in US, Europe or other parts of the world, cause you can not find that high endemic water florid area.Only two subsequent studies published in China and India. It is good to know knowledge, however not applicable for the vast majority of the world.Like Polio, known but almost eradicated in the world.Title: Developmental Fluoride Neurotoxicity: A Systematic Review and Meta-AnalysisOriginal PDF study and Medline link:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3491930http://ehp.niehs.nih.gov/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/ehp.1104912.pdfThis is a good FAQ Summary:http://www.cleanwaterportland.org/faq_on_the_harvard_iq_reviewNews title is misleading as usual in magazine news unlike original source which emphasis "toxic level". Ambrocious
Do they have fluoride in bottled water? I don't drink tap as it tastes like bleach where I live. They have something far worse than that...just look at this atrocity, clearly being done to HURT babies brains:This is sold in WalMart's across the USA, clearly an agenda to damage infants brains.
