Disk Cloning

What would be the most efficient way to clone a disk for a set of 10 computers. I was thinking of installing Acronis and doing universal backups to a external drive thats setup with FTP.

Acronis, EuseUs Todo Back up or similar will do this for you.

For speed I would use an external usb drive/s to restore from. If you try to restore image from lan it will be slower. Over vpn or internet I would not even go there.

Should the operating system be Windows & the pc's you are cloning are going to be connected to a Workgroup / Active Directory Windows server. I would advice that Acronis is set to create a new SID (unique security identifier) for the new drives. http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11.5/index.html#1351.html . I believe Microsoft have a tool called SysPrep as well.

If this is not done you will end up with a load of hassle on the network.

Hope this helps & all the best on your project
