UltimateDefrag Boot time problem

Recommended Posts

Title describes pretty much what's going on, I've tried to run a boot time defrag(multiple times), but whenever it starts it tells me 'IsClusterRangeValid NO! LnStart=10000000 LnEnd=9840856'.

As some of you might've already noticed, the End is a cluster before the Start, so I'm guessing that must be the failure ;) The thing is you can only select the Start in UD and not the End...

So, does anybody have any experience with this problem or maybe a pointer in the right direction?

I already did that(the 3 step procedure), but it didn't do any good :)

I'll try reinstalling UltimateDefrag...

Ok, it's solved :)

I manually edited the 'UDBootCfg.xml' file, it showed a reserved MFT sie of -2027 ;) I scheduled the boot time defrag to run, then adjusted the -2027 to 2048 and it worked :D

I'll run another boot time defrag to see if it does work now, without the manual editing.

Talking about MFT... How much used space has your MFT ?

I think Windows reserves too much space, i think i have 225 MB used years before installing Windows (but i try to install the fewer things i need xD).

Windows reserves WAY too much space. I've never seen my MFT grown over 300 MB actually... But to be on the safe side I just set it to 2 GB, it's just reserved space so...

I'm a risky user, so i set 256MB for it xDDDD

Currently using 201 MB.

I'm searching for a Windows multiple failure to re-install it, if it won't happen, i'll re-install in summer anyway.
