j9ksf
StartPage uses the Google search facility, which is a little selective, but remains fairly private.

anana
I don't use chrome, since i was a kid. Chrome tracking your browsing, and send it to their server. Google server known have bad security reputation. Use firefox, and other simmilar. Firefox has better privacy than chrome. Use Ghostery addons for firefox too, for block tracking, and better privacy. firefox's ghostery addons can block tracking cookies (chrome's ghostery addons can't do that) :showoff:Good luck! :)Still need help here: http://www.nsaneforums.com/topic/199941-the-best-video-rip-encoder-for-you/  Edited December 29, 2013 by anana

Blackchildcx
Comodo has their own version of DNS servers, I dont want to use that..(just me) .thats why they offer it as a "safer" alternative than Chromeand they say they have things turned off like google error reports etc, personally I did not like it.I also thought that it would be more private than chrome but it made me do the one thing i have never done while using chrome - LOGIN TO GOOGLE to get my bookmarks so i could have them in Dragon. ( I never logged into Chrome ever!)( and i realise i did not REALLY have to do that, but there was no other way, other than logging on to each of my fave sites and bookmarking manually)okay scanning Comodo website i might be wrong on Dragon privacy with regard to chromium based browsers,it does however, have that nasty login to google button in the control panel - if you hate google like I do, avoid it.However, they also have a Firefox based browser called IceDragon - if you like, perhaps give that a try?it is only available in 32 bit - no 64 bit version yet according to their website.EDIT- I just installed Comodo Ice Dragon - FAIL- It did not import my bookmarks, feels clunky..uninstalling it.I do not have anything against Comodo they are a fine company and I tested their firewall back in 2006 when it was being developed, it was the most secure firewall in existance.Trying out Cyberfox x64 AMD version https://8pecxstudios.com/only thing is no Divx webplayer plugin for x64 - other than that I do like it very much,so now I have Waterfox x64 and Cyberfox x64 both install flawlessly and pickup all my bookmarks from Firefox without needing to import! :)Never heard Ice Dragon...but Commodo is not that advanced as many say;-)
demoneye
I wont say "why not opera 18" coz if u read their privacy statement they are more gays than google .... but i use it , i like to be on a fast browser and opera is faster all the way from google chrome and (humm) from any firefox version out there. Ferocity
I've been using Startpage for almost a year now and I'm happy with it. I'm currently using Comodo Dragon, might give Waterfox a try.Since this is about his new year resolution I should say my is to complete the Insanity fitness program. I've managed to stick to it 1 month last year and had very good results but got lazy again, so this time imma try to work through it! (kinda off-topic but I had to say it! :showoff:)
John_Anonymous_Doe
That's why I use Chromium (open-source browser), and I actually love Google+ feature in YouTube, you can reply/like and watch YouTube videos by clicking "bell" icon without opening YouTube, that's huge improvement. And my homepage will always be Google UK.Google+ is so much better than Facebook. For me Chromium is the only browser which does not give me a headache, I don't like other browsers at all, I don't know why, I like simplicity, that's why Chromium is my choice. Try Comodo Dragon (security-enhanced version of Chrome browser), and couple it with StartPage and GoogleClean if you are concerned about privacy. Just remember: nothing is completely private, regardless of the browser you use.
janedoe
Good for you, wish you all the best!Don't forget https://duckduckgo.com and everyone should definitely read http://dontbubble.us to see how useful information is hidden from you by search engines. For those preferring Opera, it's now sadly just Chrome with a new skin. Same JS and layout engines that Chrome uses, and still hasn't regained all the useful features they removed after the change.
