Are we talking about MSN 4.7 or a newer version?

With the newer versions it should be no problem, in Add / Remove Programs. if it's 4.7... read below:

the one that came with windows originally not sure wich one, but I dont use it and I cant uninstall it as well.

am i stuck with it?

You can't uninstall 4.7 the normal way Greg. It's built into Windows XP. However you CAN stopit from loading up from every boot up and basically remove everything it needs to run which is safe.

I cant thank you enough Samurai (kissing feet) that has been driving me up the wall, I have asked several people who "know" computers and they say you cant.

I should have checked with the Nsane forums from the start of my conquest :o .

Yep, you deemed your conquest irrelevant other than you have come across some very talented computer users in the process.

I knew you could block the service, from Windows Services and I knew you could stop start-up and default messenger settings...but, I didn't know you meant MSN Messenger.

My mistake :o

Naa... you can uninstall it... (providing SP1 or above is installed)

Control Panel > Add/ Remove Programs > Add/ Remove windows compontants

Yeh, I thought so. I managed to un-install Windows Messenger with Windows SP2 so like Lite says, SP1 or above and you can get rid of it.
