The system is Windows 8.1 (X86) .

Yesterday I uninstalled Microsoft Defender ( I used RevoUninstaller ) and rebooted PC .

Now my question is : is it possible to delete the .reg leftovers ?

why you did that ?

After installing Win.8.1 I disabled Windows Defender (from it`s GUI) . I thought that if I uninstall complete Defender maybe the PC will be faster - it seems that was a silly ideea - I didn`t notice any big improvement .

Now , can you help me to remove .reg leftovers ?

You can't uninstall it, only disable AFAIK in Win8.1

Really ? You can`t uninstall ? Isn`t any way to remove Defender completely ?

It is built into Windows and if it was possible it would be all over the net

try to remove Windows defender services, then .reg's. Try in safe mode

Safe mode will not work, you need to know how to delete a protected registry key

Also, as said, would be great if possible as everybody using a different AV would have done it, but never seen any article of anyone able to do it.

i would suggest you do no such thing...for one. if have to ask how it suggests you really do not the ramifications of deleting reg keys and exactly what it would do to your system...i suggest you follow the "hot vet's" advice that is above this post and go no further ...not to mention why on earth would you want to uninstall it...most microsoft stuff is hard wired so deep into the OS that removing them would screw your computer up so bad you will to have to reinstall everything....keep your system as clean as possible that means do not install every program you think you need only to want to take it off later and install 5 more programs only uninstall them too

edit...i too was going to add link here to tell you how to delete reg keys but then i thought if i did you might actually do it...besides "hot vet" already provided the same link i was going to

Windows Defender files were removed by Revo , but I can`t remove also the .reg leftovers (I`ve tried already in safe mode)

The first Raymond`s advice did the job . B)

Why does everyone ignore PCHunter ?

Best tool to edit locked registry, delete locked files, anti rootkit...

Many people don't like using that. I don't know why.

PC Hunter (ex. XueTr) use native registry api, you can easly find it with any hex editor
- NtCreateKey
- NtOpenKey
- NtDeleteKey
- NtSetInformationKey
- NtQueryKey
- NtEnumerateKey
- NtDeleteValueKey
- NtSetValueKey
- NtQueryValueKey
- NtEnumerateValueKey

NtRegEdit also use native registry api instead win32 api

adminCMD: " sc /delete <<service_name_here>> "

in registry GUI: right click->owner-><<change_to_you>>, Permissions-><<click_your_name>>->special permissions->full control, right click-> "delete"

No need for third party software.

BTW: If you crash your system deleting registry entries- Hold F8 while startup-> safe mode.

If it's locked, there's probably a good reason for it.

Untill i am shown proof of an article on safely uninstalling Windows Defender from Win 8.1 , i would not even think of doing it. As i have said, it would be great and and many would do it ( myself included ), but have never found one claiming how to do it :)

Exactly, was in the making for Win8, was never made, and not for Win8.1 :)
