What did you want to download and for what's Your Windows version?

Download the latest hotfixs for WIN7x64

Can not you be more specific - what exactly - did you get downloaded but could not install or could not download at all? Anyone can not help you if you do not speak clearly.

The first pic make it clear but I see that the server is currently down! so I can tell you that the windows could not search for updates, no updates list is shown, that's the issue :)

Well, it does not show, after all, nothing more than that Your IP is blocked. Think for yourself why this is so. That's why you will not catch any updates.

You can also try this:

  • Run CMD as admin..
  • Now first execute this Command "net stop wuauserv"
  • Next execute "cd%systemroot%"
  • next execute "ren SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old"
  • Next execute "net start wuauserv"
  • Restart your system and try to update your OS...

There are to many conection with the update server at this time

Try again in a minute or 10-15

Or wait until Windows update itself

Another point is that a program firewall ? blocks the svchost port 80 and 443 must be open and reachable

I checked some forums most of them were talking about firewall..so I already disabled it but I get the same error!

Have you tried running WindowsUpdateDiagnostic Tool? !

!)You can try to reconfigure proxy and tracing settings for Windows HTTP.

  • Right-click “Command Prompt” Run as administrator". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  • Type "netsh winhttp reset proxy" (without quotes) at the command prompt, and press Enter.
  • Try the update again.
!!) Try using Disk Cleanup utility to get rid of Windows Clutter.
!!!) Use System File Checker
in Elevated Command Prompt dialog type following command:
  • SFC /SCANNOW
Wait till SFC fixes what it can. Mostly, it plods through and displays the results, like this:
Verification 100% complete. What you see after this line depends on the results of the operation. When nothing is wrong, you see this text:Windows Resource Protection didn't find any integrity violations.
When problems have been found and repaired, you see this:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.logWait till it checks the Windows OS system files
When problems have been found but sfc is unable to repair the corrupt files,Type:
  • dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

After the process is successfully performed, type EXIT and press ENTER.

Reboot your machine for the changes to take effects & Try windows update again.

1- Windowsupdatediagnostic couldn't resolve the issue, here is the screenshot:

2- Did Proxy setting and Disk Cleanup instructions with no change

3- System File Checker, see the pic below:

4- Repairing Windows installation seems to be the sole solution till now, I'll wait for possible solution then do it if no more propositions :)

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

only for win 8 and above

@mazigh

you need to extract the cbs.log to find which file corrupted

it is recomended to run sfc /scannow 2-3 times

you can check here on how to extract the log

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

you can try use Windows Repair AIO to repair windows update

http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html

select

- repair wmi

- firewall

- hosts file (if you're using custom hosts, backup first)

- windows update

this is a tip from the dev himself

While the "Reset File Permissions" isn't needed as much as the others there are times where it will come in use. Say you are running the "Repair Windows Updates" but it doesn't work. Because a virus changed the permissions to the files to keep the user from fixing them. While this rarely happens having the ability to regain access to all the Files on the Windows drive will help a lot.

i think you should select repair registry permission and file permission but its depend on the repair log..if you see some permission error, you can select these two

Try this, it's worked for me in the past

Repair & Fix Windows Updates with Fix WU Utility, free and portable developed by Ramesh Kumar

In case anytime, you find that you are facing any issues in running Microsoft Updates or Windows Updates due to any reasons, run this utility.

This utility will re-register a total of 114 .dll, ocx and .ax files which are required for the proper functioning of Windows Updates.

The utility may take a few moments to run. On completion, you will see a dialog box: The process completed successfully.

It has been tested on Windows 7 & Vista, 32bit and 64bit versions.
