Because of their expected high price tag, these zero days will likely be used to launch targeted attacks against high-value businesses and individuals rather than deployed by common cybercriminals in order to propagate mass infections,” Fortinet explained.At this point, Windows XP is still powering more than 30 percent of computers worldwide, or approximately 19 percent of desktop PCs, if we are to judge by StatCounter’s data.Since Windows XP remains the second most popular operating system on the market, Microsoft’s biggest challenge is to move users to a newer platform, not only because XP is becoming extremely vulnerable to attacks, but also because it needs to boost the market share of Windows 8.1.And still, not many users seem to be willing to abandon Windows XP and move to a newer Windows version. Zigen Posted November 26, 2013 Share Posted November 26, 2013 Make a new windows 9 that is a modern version of XP with easy to use features, rather than a windows 8 that makes people go around in circles, and people might actually buy a new OS. You can see from history that Microsoft has been arrogant and neglected the feedback of their clients, or they had their heads so far up their asses they could not understand the consumers needs.After coming up with a successful windows XP, they proceeded to create an utter abomination, the worst OS ever seen in history, Vista. When Vista failed, they made windows 7, which made the customers a little more happy. Instead of learning from that Microsoft then proceeded to come up with Windows 8 to get a foothold in the Apps market, probably trying to compete with Apple. The lack of user friendly touch for PC and laptops users nearly made windows 8 a failure, until win 8.1 was released. A thread on the official MS Answers forum attributed this to malware from Conduit and others, so check your system thoroughly. BTW Windows 7 SP2 will never be released - I think it's been confirmed. As for claiming that Microsoft is deliberately damaging its own reputation by making Windows 7 updates fail for some people just so those same people then magically decide to pay for Windows 8, that's not just nonsensical but just plain FUD that conspiracy theorists love to spread with no proof whatsoever. Windows 7 is rock solid for me and I'm not kidding when I say that I have so far not had any update failures on this OS to date.
