Malware Removal Tests

These tests focus only on the malware removal/cleaning capabilities, therefore all used samples are samples that the tested Anti-Virus products are able to detect. It has nothing to do with detection rates or protection capabilities. Of course, if an Anti-Virus is not able to detect the malware, it is also not able to remove it.

The main question is if the products are able to successfully remove malware and its leftovers from an already infected/compromised system. The test report is aimed to normal/typical home users and not Administrators or advanced users that may have the knowledge for advanced/manual malware removal/repair procedures.Beside the animated charts we have very extensive reports. Please have a look at them.

Awards reached in this test:

Advanced+: Kaspersky, Bitdefender, Avira, Fortinet, ESET, Avast, Panda.

Advanced: eScan, Sophos, F-Secure, Emsisoft, AhnLab, BullGuard, GDATA

Standard: Vipre

Kaspersky = 98

BitDefender = 97

Eset = 88

Pity, it seems Eset needs to grow stronger :huh:

A good AV doesn't base on these scores or these samples

The AV in my country will get high score with my samples

Your PC is not a "virus machine" or work for a bank, CIA, NASA... so don't need a "killer machine"

Ok, I got your point, but, KAV 2014 is behaving very, VERY well in my PC. As light as NOD32, believe it or not.

Light weight, plus top on real world protection, second or third place on demand scan and top again in cleaning/removal of malware.

It seems that Kaspersky has grown into a silent assassin, at least on my PC (core 2 quad q8300 - 8gb ram DDR3 dual channel - ATI radeon hd 7770).

my PC: CPU Pentium IV 1Ghz, RAM 512MB, only run fine ESET or Avast

but never infected over 10 years, so what does a strong AV <=> heavy need for ?

Yes, you know what you are doing, and that is best than any AV out there.

I also know what I am doing, but I am not the only user of this PC, and the others are total noobs...

It is dependent upon user's sense. :)

case in point my computer has the same protection my nephew has on his computer...he gets infected all the time... it is how he uses his computer and the stupid things he does on line that is the biggest threat ...

Norton is not participating because they didn't like file detection tests but they have to be tested in every av-comparatives tests that is the rule.

But symantec participed of the "File Detection Test" - http://www.nsaneforums.com/topic/189705-av-comparatives-file-detection-test-september-2013/

Yes. AV-comparatives guys included them to show how "bad" they are and "force" them to pay for next years test because if they pay then they can show how good are they in real world dynamic test.
