Roger D
I've HP Pavilion dv6000 Series Laptop with inbuilt Altec Lansing Speaker, which I had bought in 2008 with Vista preinstalled.I've Changed and upgraded my OS several times.. recently I've done a clean install of Windows 8.1, after that I installed Realtek HD audio driver, when I was configuring the driver software I noticed the sound was coming from right speaker only.. :(Is something wrong with OS or Driver software? or Is this hardware issue?

Dodel
I'd reckon it's a driver issue, roll back to an OS that did work prior, and test again.

Roger D
I'd reckon it's a driver issue, roll back to an OS that did work prior, and test again.I've wasted 3-4 days to Activate, update and configure Windows 8.1.. I can't go back just to test it.. :nono: there must be some workaround.. Edited November 22, 2013 by Roger D

At the Tiles menu type "Recovery"Step 2. Choose HP Recovery ManagerStep 3. Drivers and Applications ReinstallStep 4. Choose IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio DriverStep 5. InstallStep 6. Restart your computerNB: Try installing the 2.73 drivers in Win 7 Compatibility mode.Or test here :- (To see if it is actually compatible with Win 8 / 8.1)http://www8.hp.com/us/en/ad/windows-8/upgrade.htmlAlso, have your tried a set of headphones to see if you get stereo sound ?. Chancer
If it is OK on headphones but not speakers, surely they are both driven by the same driver. Then it points to a hardware problem...! ?
VileTouch
it is a dv. that spells heat problems. since the left speaker doesn't work (which is located in the top left corner btw) , one would start thinking...well what's on that side of the computer? oh yes! the proccessor is there! a huge source of heat!that said, chances are, in one of those heat spikes the speaker cables melted and then shorted. Roger D
Yupp! it's hardware problem.. I contacted Service center, they tested the speakers with Xp and Windows 7...same problem with every os...Now I'm Ok with single speaker, when both will stop working I'll replace them..
