Windows 7 includes a WAT update (KB971033) that does checks for genuine activation. It is usually harmless (it unaffects loaders like Daz's, the most popular way to activate Windows 7), unless one is using a key or KMS PID that has been blacklisted (as was the case with Windows 7 Enterprise users using old versions of MTK and the same static KMS PID). The solution was to reactivate with a randomly generated KMS PID that could not be blacklisted while also re-validating the OS using Internet Explorer.

"But Lacius, what does Windows 7 have to do with my question about Windows 8?"

Windows 8 includes its own checks for genuine activation similar to KB971033, except it's not a Windows Update; it's built into the OS. If you were activated but now you're not, there are three options I'm aware of, depending on how you activated Windows 8:

  1. You changed your hardware in some way.
  2. Your key or KMS PID has been blacklisted.
  3. Your KMS activation (180 days) ran out without it automatically being renewed.

It would help to know how you activated in the first place.

When you activated with Skype, did you use a private key or a public key available somewhere on the internet?

try these steps

- restore your backup activation once again (if you have it)

- activate once again using online method

- if...

- success, backup once again. use microsoft toolkit and/or advance token manager

- not success, visit here (win8.1) or here (win8) for more help

good luck :)

i think all the keys are blocked online

uninstalled key using slmgr.vbs -upk

then

slmgr.vbs -rilc

then gave product key

then slmgr.vbs -skms kms.isu.edu.tw

all hose keys are accepted but when i entered "slmgr.vbs -ato"

all the keys got error

error the activation server reported that the multiple activatio key has exceeded its limit..

There is no need to check it online, If backup was successful and windows shows it is activated.

Alternatively, the latest version of KMSpico supports KMS v6 emulation (Windows 8.1). You could just uninstall your retail key and use KMSpico (or MTK when it's updated in the very near future to work with v6). MTK and KMSpico both work with Windows 8.
