For how long do you have Bitdefender Installed? if you have it for few weeks, then your screen it's pointless. You can't say that when it's updating your browser doesn't freeze, Bitdefender has this problem for years. As I said, is the best AV in the world, but it's not for an old PC as I made an example with socket 775, or laptops.

Airstream_Bill*, Install IS 2014 and apply the code, it worked for me, you don't need special a installer.

Bitdefender eats lot of space on your hard drive, in time, if I remember well, one time it's folder had 7 gb. The main problem with it is that when it's updating, everything freezes for 5 sec, is like sucking the life out of your PC.

It's one of the best AV in the world, but you shouldn't install it on laptops, PC with 2 gb ram or if you have a processor that works on socket 775 , even if it's Dual Core.

I use a PC with Dual-Core proc. , 775 socket , 4 GB RAM and is working without any problem with The New BitDefender 2014 . :thumbsup:

Your PC has problems if it can`t deal with BD`s updates ... I can use my PC without any problems , or slowdowns even if BitDefender is scanning the whole PC ... B)

I love Bitdefender 2014 but I would have to agree with AlexCross when it updates on my little itty bitty netbook with a Atom Processor and only 1 gig of ram, It comes to a crawl when it starts to update. I have learned to deal with it. I would have to agree with you though that if you have a computer with 4 gig of RAM as all my friends do it doesn't bother their machines performance. If it is not updating on mine no PROBLEMS what-so-ever !! I know I need a NEW Lap top. Maybe soon. I love this little machine of mine though.

Hello! I will try that tomorrow with a Fresh install and see what happens for me. I have the Total Security running at the moment. I would rather have the year with IS than the 6 months with TS. Again Thanks.

If you insist to use that little netbook with 1GB RAM , then you should switch to nod32-av , the latest version (7.0.302.26) is light and is not affecting too much the PC`s performances .

Maybe you have some problems on your PC - swollen capacitors on the motherboard (??) :think:

- it`s quite simple to replace them , usually 3300 μF / 6.3V :

- you should take a look at your motherboard (also the power supply might have problems ...)

In that case I don`t know why do you see slowdowns ( / PC freeze ) when BitDefender updates it`s virus definitions - I still have BD installed on that PC (see the screenshots) and had it installed also on a laptop (now with KIS2014) and didn`t even notice when BitDefender updates ... , it didn`t bother me ... B)
