Administrator Lite Posted April 12, 2009 Administrator Share Posted April 12, 2009 Anti-Virus software’s reliability and accuracy depends on how many malware samples a vendor can receive and process in the working day. Vendors have there own methods of obtaining malware samples be it from other vendors (as part of an exchange program) or from various collectors (be they employed or independent). However despite these various collection programs it is impossible to detect all viruses and like. So it’s up to the users of said software to send files they believe could be malware. Instead of complaining “Scanner X didn’t detect malware Y send the sample to ALL vendors so they can add it to the detection database (often known as signatures). Here is a list of submission methods for most of the known Anti-Virus vendors.Ahnlab: v3sos[@]ahnlab.comArcaBit: virus[@]arcabit.comAvast: virus[@]avast.comAVG: virus[@]grisoft.czAVIRA: virus[@]avira.comBitDefender: virus_submission[@]bitdefender.comCA: virus[@]ca.com ClamAV: http://cgi.clamav.net/sendvirus.cgiComodo: malwaresubmit[@]comodo.comDr.Web: vms[@]drweb.comEmsiSoft: submit[@]emsisoft.comeSafe: esafe.virus[@]eAladdin.comESET: samples[@]eset.comEwido: submit[@]ewido.netFortinet: submitvirus[@]fortinet.comF-Prot: viruslab[@]f-prot.comF-Secure: samples[@]f-secure.comHauri: hauri98[@]hauri.co.krIkarus: analyse[@]ikarus.atKaspersky: newvirus[@]kaspersky.comMcAfee: vsample[@]avertlabs.comMicrosoft: avsubmit[@]submit.microsoft.comNorman: analysis[@]norman.noPanda: virussamples[@]pandasoftware.comPrevX: virus[@]prevxresearch.comQuickHeal: viruslab[@]quickheal.comSophos: samples[@]sophos.comSunbelt: malware-cruncher[@]sunbelt-software.comSymantec: avsubmit[@]symantec.comTauscan: trojans[@]agnitum.comThe Cleaner:trojans[@]moosoft.comTrendMicro: virus_doctor[@]trendmicro.comTrojanHunter: submit[@]misec.netTrojan Remover: submit[@]simplysup.comUNA: newvirus[@]unasoft.com.uaVBA32: newvirus[@]anti-virus.byVirus Chaser : inquiry[@]viruschaser.com.hkVirusBuster: virus[@]virusbuster.huWindows Defender: windefend[@]submit.microsoft.comAnother (perhaps simpler) way of submitting files is by uploading to services like Virustotal.(Note: This is something i made a while back... suggestions/ additions welcome!) LeetPirate
Hey just wanted to add to your list. I know you already have Sunbelt there but they also have a website to handle false positives submission.http://research.sunbelt-software.com/developer_issue.aspx
Administrator Lite Posted May 5, 2009 Author Administrator Share Posted May 5, 2009 Thanks!I think alot of vendors have these submission forms. Maybe if we can get a list of these i can add them to the first post? The advtange of the emails is that you only have to submit the file once and it goes to all vendors :P
