TheAslan
Exactly, changing process priorities to High or Real Time makes actually apps slower, only good option here is Above Normal, all the other settings just makes apps slower.Windows is clever enough, it does not need any 3rd party performance app running in background. Windows knows the best option for every app and makes the best decisions for you. Edited October 31, 2013 by TheAslan
banned
Giving a process high or real time priority makes every other process with a lower priority struggle for processor time.
VileTouch
i've been using tuneup since.... well, remember norton utilities? yeah, that far back. it certainly have a lot of unwanted features that are not really good (live optimization, automatic disk cleanup, automatic uninstall of unused software, etc) all of which should stay DISABLEDhowever there's a number of features that are really useful for the kind of people that mostly know how to use the desktop and open a browser and maybe make a word/excel document. it saves ME time and grey hairs when they call me a saturday at 11pm to tell me "the internet disappeared" (facepalm) ...or something trickier like there's a context menu problem, also saves ME from traveling physically to each computer to do routine maintenance. the program doesn't run all the time, but fires up once a month do it's stuff automagically and saves a log that i review by mail to decide if it needs a visit. so to me it's great and they keep doing what they always do (which is not to worry about all that geeky stuff and play candy crush)

banned
said it before will say it again!!! TU = Bloatware.I still find some of the utilities useful (I mentioned the registry editor). I don't consider it bloatware because any unneeded services/modules can be easily disabled with Sysinternals Autoruns. Then again, I'm using an older version, before they sold to AVG and/or changed their privacy policy. sirri
Privazer all the way ...no slow down...no background service.
caballonegro
Neither, I think that better option is to use CCleaner and Defraggler, as far as I know those apps which keeps running in background only makes your computer slower over time, those makes decisions by itself without asking your permission, no matter how you configure its settings. For example my laptop runs much smoother and faster now when I stopped using TuneUp Utilities.absolutly, me too.maybe windows 7 or 8 manager, maybe only.regards Edited November 1, 2013 by caballonegro
banned
The registry editor is nothing special in TU, There are better third party programs. It has a better search feature than standard regedit in Windows. That makes it useful enough for me.I won't argue about whether or not I need to disable services or modules in programs, this is something I always do anyway, even for pointless built-in Windows modules. MrElectrifyer
After reading the feedbacks, I've decided to turn off Live Optimization in TuneUp 2014, looking forward to see the boost in speed I've been missing out on...though never thought my PC (Surface Pro) became slow with it, perhaps it might be the reason Windows Explorer once in a while gets confused with the Type Cover. With the Type Cover folded back, once in a while, I notice that explorer refuses to auto-rotate when I change the tablet orientation; have to detach and reattach the cover to wake it up...only time will tell if that's truly the 'cause  BTW, love its the auto maintenance features (besides for the auto uninstall) and it's one of the first utilities I install on my computer and other people's computers I maintain...PS. Check out "My Startup Delayer" for even more interesting performance boost; it's Soluto without the NSA's noose in it. In my experience, I often cannot tell any difference with such features on or off. That's why I consider them snake oil. Something like Process Lasso makes a bit more sense to me, where I can directly target a specific application's priority if necessary. But then again, such process is most probably a game in my case, and TuneUp Turbo Mode is my one click solution for that situation :) Edited November 1, 2013 by MrElectrifyer
banned
Yeah, I used Process Lasso more before I got a multi-core CPU. It actually helped some games play better at lower priority. It's still installed on my system, but I rarely have it running these days.
