sanjoa
Hi, guys! Today I made a cleanup of a computer which was infected by almost 40 virus / badware. The problem is that on Administrator account Windows Update is not working. It requires administrator rights :wtf: (I'm on admin account). Any way to fix this? Windows 7 SP1 x64 ultimate, cleanup done with ESET Endpoint Antivirus, MBAM, and Trojan Remover. Thanks in advance :)
davmil
It's worth running sfc /scannow (from the command prompt). I don't have one for Win 7 in hand, but you probably need to run a utility that resets all the default permissions too. A final freebee would be to try to create a new account and see how that works. There are repair programs out there (i think it's in Yamicsoft's WinManager - free for 30 days) to reset WinUpdate as well.

Whoopenstein
While it would be interesting to get it working again it would be best to back up your files and re-install.
Freddy Anderson
If there are other accounts on your system, i would reocmmend to disable them temporarily except the one has Administrative rights. Then try doing it !!

ajdibi
You would be doing yourself a favour by just reinstalling Windows. If the malware/virus has done as much damage as you say, then I wouldn't like to trust your current installation of Windows for banking, etc. Edited October 23, 2013 by ajdibi
