Your right, just noticed that Comodo Internet Security is number one. Does anyone here use this?

Please let us know what you think.

Looks promising especially for free.

Actually, most of us here are COMODO Fanatics :frusty:

We already knew that COMODO is #1 even before Matousec's announcement :nono:

Umm this is just a firewall test, of course a dedicated firewall like Comodo would come out on top over companies like Symantec and ESET. No way in hell that Comodo's antivirus would even have a chance against Norton and NOD32.

@UberB:

Well I didn't say that we're using their antivirus package... for now :nono:

Never really like firewall....especially the previous version of Comodo.

Just installed the latest version and viola, was very surprise :rolleyes:

No prompting :blink: even while playing online games! :pope:

So quiet!

Never thought that Norton and NOD32 would be used in the same line describing a quality that both share.

I think I m finding Eset internet security a little overwhelming on my tiny laptop.

I am giving a thought of trying out Norton Internet security..

I think its around 10 years that I have even thought of doing so...

I was wondering how a NOD32 v2.7 and Comodo firewall do. :rolleyes:

At these proves (firewall).

I mean you have 84 tests in which COMODO is the best and ESET is an idiot with 4%.

If you take 1000 old tests more, COMODO could mark 1083/1084 and ESET 1002/1084, both at 95%+.

If i take only 100 viruses that ESET detects but not CIS, then ESET has 100% of detection and CIS only 0%. You can take a sample set of your convenience to show what you want.

Anyway i have to admit that ESET firewall is poor and i'd like a better firewall for ESET, i have to admit it.

I instaled Kaspersky IS in laptop due to matousec's tests, but i don't like its firewall. It lets every known process connect to internet (i don't wank that, so i had to cut-down permissions to known apps). And you can't assign temporal permissions to a process, so it sucks when you use one tool for one time.

And the same with installers and application surveillance, sometimes it's good avoiding certaing things, but sometimes it sucks a lot.

@Jota.Ce:

I blame COMODO for integrating the AV with the Firewall.

I guess it's their marketing strategy.

In the past, a few are willing to test their AV.

All the same, if they manage to improve their AV...

Meh, Comodo and Online armor may pass the most tests, but I can't get over their interfaces. I think I'll stick with Outpost till I die lol.

I use Comodo for the firewall with everything else disabled and Eset AV latest v.4 version. And keep SAS and MBAM loaded and updated in case anything gets though that needs better cleaning than what EAV can do. Very happy with that combination.

Just cleaned a friends machine that was infected with "cryptor" that slipped through her AVG free installation. MBAM saved the day, but was tricky to get loaded on the infected machine due to the virus's built in self defense mechanisms. Had to rename MBAM's .exe to slip by it so it would install. Needless to say, she's now running ESS (being a novice, that's the best solution for her).

You can just install the firewall as a standalone, they give you that option at least.

And since the guy a few posts back remarked on how quiet the firewall is, I just might give this new version a try.

I don't install their AV... at laest not for now :)

COMODO should have continued the standalone version of their firewall.

Installed it and uninstalled it.

I dont like it integrating stuff though I have the option to uncheck the other options.

Unfortunately Online Armor does not work with Windows 7

Using PC Tools Firewall now

How did the norton go for you?

As I had reimaged the unit with Windows 7 Build 7077

I had the option to play with lots of antiviruses and firewalls.

I tried PC Tools Firewall... It was OK..

Tried Avira...

Lastly right now I am using NIS 2009 which looks fine.

Trying out Norton after 10 long years. :frusty:

Bizarre™,

I'm on ZoneAlarm Pro 8.0.298.000 - need your advice. Do you think this is better than what I'm running?

ps:- (I tried out ZoneAlarm to simulate a problem that Mo Husen was having in fixing it.)

@Donaldo:

COMODO Firewall is among the best.

I'm not sure about their AV, but there are rumors spreading that v3.9 Beta has higher detection rates (with or without heuristics) than other AV (profit or non-profit).

I just have one advice: be cautious if you plan on testing v3.9 Beta.

As for me, I'll wait for the the latest stable build of v3.9 :frusty:

:sleep: Wonder if you recollect the time when I'd reported that COMODO (think it was Pro 3.0.25.378) was very silent and nobody would believe me.

OK guys, I'm going for it. Thanks for the prompt response, Bizarre™ - I don't fancy the beta, myself downloading 3.8.65951.477 (45.26 MBs) instead. Shall report on my findings shortly.

One of the things I like about Comodo Firewall, aside from the fact that it's pretty darn good, is that they were one of the few to early on support vista x64. If I'm not mistaken, Zone Alarm still to this day doesn't support Vista x64.
