emerglines
I had that problem before it was Adobe player and maybe your audio driver is installed incorrectly.

emerglines
See if you can play videos in any other non youtube website, if you can't its definitely Adobe player, uninstall adobe player versions you find and download the latest version, cause i think its player conflict, if not try to go to "Sounds" panel and see which driver is default activated. If all these solutions not work, you audio device is 6 feet under ! Edited October 4, 2013 by emerglines

shorty6100
Dude! The same thing happened to me today! I just fiddled with the sound icon in a you tube video and dragged it right. Voila- sound was back! How the hell did that happen in the first place?.............. Edited October 4, 2013 by shorty6100
Journey
I belong to another board and people there are complaining of the same Youtube issue with the audio being off by default. I think it's a bug on their end and nothing to do with your computer. And, yes, it affects all browsers as already mentioned above. The only other thing I can think of is AdBlock free adware program. I have it installed and working on all browsers so I'm wondering if that might be the problem. I haven't yet tested this theory.

Journey
Ok. Here's the solution and it was partly touched upon by emerglines post.Uninstall Adobe Flash Player for IE (Activex)Uninstall Adobe Flash Player for Firefox, Safari, Opera (Plugin)Uninstall Adobe Shockwave PlayerNext:Go here: http://www.nsanedown.com/?request=57232098And download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (both ActiveX and Plugin) then install them.Go to Adobe.com then download and install Adobe Shockwave PlayerYou audio issues should be resolved now. It worked for me..Hope this helps. I don't know how it got broken but it was an easy fix.Cheers,Journey
