Has V2Cxxx serial turned ungenuine ?

First warning, on my desktop, i entered on Windows Update page and it asked me for validation, i clicked on Validate button and BAM! Not Genuine.

I understood it since i have made millions of deletions in my desktop PC, so it's heavily damaged (OOBE is deleted here).

I tried then on ly laptop with same serial, but in an untouched WinXP environment. I entered on WU page, and it didn't require me to Validate, so nothing wrong. I updated all hotfixes (only 2 or 3, among them it was the Windows Genuine Notification Tool). I thought: this serial is genuine, so... i installed that hotfix. No problem in several days, but today... i was "testing" one "wifi", it connected to internet and suddenly it showed me the WGA star telling me my copy of win is pirate...

I've deleted WGA with RemoveWGA, but i don't know what's going to happen with that...

- If i don't install that hotfixes (WGA and Notification), can i update regularly without problems ???

- Is V2Cxxx serial really blacklisted ???

- Do i have to fear same thing is happening with another known genuine serials ???

- Can i try with serials taken from PCs at work if they're VLK ???

The V2Cxxx serial has been blacklisted since march 2009.

Please Check out this *SNIP*, it should solve your problem.

You've got a PM :nono:

I don't think they'll block all serials that are out there, so you should be fine now.

You have left some parts of the complete statement to make me happy:

"You've got a PM, you've got a new mail, you've got a red carpet and you've got a pair of swedish teenies (teen>18)..."

But thanks a lot, life's easier with nsane xDDD

Thanks aoham for confirming what i said 10 days ago (in that moment some people didn't believe me)... but how could M$ blacklist a "student" serial ??? And... what serial has M$ give to students now through MSDN AA ???

Open questions:

- If i don't install that hotfixes (WGA and Notification), can i update regularly without problems with a non-genuine serial ???

- I extracted some absolutely legal serials in my past work with Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder. Some of them were for 1-2PC and copied fom the sticker in the PC case (does it mean retail serials? If so, it won't work on VL_XP). Can i try with serials taken from PCs if they're VLK ??? If i try one... what could happen ? MChoff could tell me that license limit has reached or... MChoff would tell them limit has reached (i don't want that)?

I believe you can, but I'm not sure. I'm sure you can still use Automatic update, but you won't be able to use the online update(it'll require you to install the new hotfix first).

I've testing serials from that chinese image i had, and serials from a webpage that contains BAT method to legalize your WinXP.

Some of them were for retail, or at least, invalid.

I got 7 serials working and 10-12 invalid.

I've discovered the best method to change your serial is the BAT method (i refined the BAT if found years ago to its extreme), since the EXE methods i've seen don't work or can even hurt your OOBE subsystem (that happened on my untouched laptop, i had to copy OOBE from another computer).

A VLK (Volume Licensing Key) can only be used on a VLK installation not on an OEM installation (the advantage of VLK keys is they don't bitch you for activation . . . . . . . at all.) :P

MChoff could tell me that license limit has reached or... MChoff would tell them limit has reached (i don't want that)?

You won't face this problem with a VLK - Ican vouch for this (using one, myself - for the last 38 months.)

Use WGA Removal Tool to remove...... :P

or just use wga fix and you can update your windows until ms releases the next wga (by that time there will be another fix).

It's a 30s job, and you don't need to change anything.

Since i could find 7 serials i've got no problems, but i thought VLK serials were limited in number, i.e. you buy a serial for 50 computers for your office. If some workers leak the serial and install in their homes, M$ should tell "wrong ke" to the the 51st person...

Am i wrong with that ?

Which kind of serial is the one on stickers that say "for 1-2 PC" ? Maybe Retail ?

Theoretically, yes - this is what I'd thought myself (at the time of my first Windows installation.) Fortunately though - in practice, I've personally done much more than 50 installations with the same VLK (and same VLK installation CD.)

I prefer being "legal" at the M$ eyes... to download/install updates as they're released.

But i set it to ask me first.

I always resort to the VLK since it makes Windows genuine in a permanent manner. The disadvantage for an OEM user is that he/she needs to start from scratch with a fresh VLK installation.

Occasionally, I have to use the WGA too to fix pirated copies on my friends' systems (some folks prefer to skip a fresh installation.) The WGA solution is an ongoing process, though.

'legal'? Then why are we all here?

xDDDDDDDDDDDDD

I know it's more "legal" removing WGA than changing to a leaked VLK serial, but second option allows to enter in W.Update...

I don't know 100% if you can update through Automatic Updates (asking first) without WGA, and first security measure should be updating your OS (even Linuxers do it even their system is the best in the world blah blah blah).

A VLK keycode is a one-time-headache. Please note, it covers only Windows, not your Microsoft Office.

I found an Office 2003 Pro SP3 with a genuine serial integrated some time ago, so...

i guess there are VLK keys for Office: 2 times headache xD

For Office programs I believe you can find keygens which generate genuine keys... Not sure though, maybe it only works when you use Microsoft update(which only checks for your Windows key, not your Office key, I believe).

Yeah, sort of - I'm on Office 2007 Enterprise (using a Corporate code.) This code is further fixed by a .reg key to get authenticated for Windows Updates.
