BookCase
My utorrent silently updated itself overnight and reset all settings to default. I had "Check for updates" disabled. Anyone else have this issue?

And, as an IT, I'd have to say, your issues are most likely coming from something else and not utorrent. As far as my silent update, I figured out that CCleaner was responsible and not utorrent. I run CCleaner every time I close my browser and then some and, apparently, I had it set to delete utoorent defaults and history. So, problem solved. I buy my own modem and router and use the ipfilter updater and Peerblock before every time i open utorrent and I have no issues. Also, disable DHT in utorrent and Force encryption, just to be safe. Xeromus
Linksys routers are crap & have been for a long time & it's only going to get worse now that Belkin owns the brand. Every router I have owned by them have had firmware problems with many connections opened as well as the Micro Transport Protocol aka uTP which both uTorrent & BitTorrent use. This effectively renders Linksys routers next to useless for P2P unless you load an open firmware like Tomato or DD-WRT onto it. If you want to use P2P with no problems my suggestion is to grab yourself an Asus N66U or higher & slap some Merlin-WRT on that beast. That is unless your ISP is throttling you in which case you should find another one if that is an option.
