seven-ish questions...

I see lots of folks crowing loudly about how great win7 is.

Many say it's better than XP and way better than 8.x .

OK.

I've tried vista and 7 and found them as shipped - quite intolerable and very much alike.

The annoyances that can be shut off could be lived with - but the biggest things to me are these:

- No classic shell options

- The 'improved' explorer.

I see that Rach posted Classic Shell, here:

And I've checked out it's screenies - and it may come close, but not close enough IMO.

My questions:

- Is there any way to directly use the classic XP-style explorer file manager in 7 ??

- Is there any theme or something that makes it look like the old, boring classic windows style ??

PS:

I use Explorer2 as a 2nd file manager=> I'm not asking about other kinds of explorer replacements.

What is the best (easy & fast), permanent way to activate win 7 ult or pro ??

Over at MDL they suggest thusly:

Install 7 Ultimate > Install Daz's Windows Loader > Reboot > Done

But now I see there are some problems with that...any opinions on this subject ??

almost all problem were answered in the readme

check the readme first and if you still got problem, reply here so people can help

please specify which problem do you have so people can focus on that specific problem

Personally I have had no problems as yet with Daz's Windows Loader.

I was referring to postings I've seen at MDL and elsewhere from others who have had troubles.

My added query here was really whether Daz's Windows Loader is still the best (easy & fast), permanent way to activate win 7 ult or pro - or if folks here think there is a better way to do so ??

My original queries went un-answered and that saddens me as I said - there don't seem to be answers for those things.

just use app that you comfortable with

for your original q, i don't really understand what you're trying to achieve..

for me, the only thing that i don't like about win 7 file explorer is i cannot group file and folder according to single alphabet

now, it doesn't matter for me anymore

for theme,if i'm not mistaken there is a classic theme for windows 7 but i don't know if that what you want

go to Personalize to change it
