not sure if this minor update (1041) caused this, so went back to previous (1037). Although the activation did work initially, once I rebooted it de-activated itself. I tried off-line activation but simply got an error. I unplugged my network cable and got a different error. I un-did the host file hack (i.e. back to its original form) and then, still without a network connection, was able to activate it. Seems IDM is now checking for this entry in the hosts file.
