rudrax
My mom bought a Nokia phone (Nokia Asha 501). Decent phone indeed. The problem is with the type of SIM card that it supports. It has support only for miniSIM. The standardSIM card that she had can't be used as it doesn't fit in the slot. I've cut one of them according to the slot and I have made that exactly fit to the slot but the phone doesn't detect the SIM. Later, I've come to know that there exists a new born variant of SIM cards which is called as miniSIM, yet, I want to know from you guys - is there any way to make it work with the old standardSIM? stylemessiah
Okay so theres 4 different SIM sizes1) The original SIM card was the size of a credit card2) The Mini SIM is the one thats roughly the size of the top of your thumb and is the most common as its been in use for eons. These can be cut by a cutter tool to become a Micros SIM (although at least in Oz you just take your Mini SIM into the phone store and they swap it for free for a Micro/Nano SIM and program your existing number to it)....seems like a lot of work to buy the cutter or cut it yourself....3) Then theres the Micro SIM which newer phones like the iPhone and Samsung use4) And lastly theres the Nano SIM. Only Apple use the new Nano-SIM at the moment in the iPhone 5So going on that info which one did she have, and which one did you cut it to, because im confused .... rudrax
So going on that info which one did she have, and which one did you cut it to, because im confused ....Well, thanks for the info. She had the old standard SIM which I've cut according to the size of the mini SIM slot in the new phone. The new home made mini SIM fits perfectly into the slot but the phone is still not detecting it.

Administrator DKT27 Posted August 16, 2013 Administrator Share Posted August 16, 2013 Just go to the store of your service provider and ask for a replacement SIM. If the card is registered on her name, she will have to come.
