Recommended Posts

Hi,

I would like to know which antivirus company below uses regional activation?

The reason I am asking this is sometimes I see cheaper keys sold by downloadcrew uk/us store than my region
Mcafee
Norton
Trend Micro
Eset
Bitdefender
Kaspersky*

*Kaspersky is conformed using regional activation.

Please advise.

Thanks.

I know that Kaspersky is using regional activation and I heard somewhere that Bitdefender will do the same thing from 1 August 2013.

But I'm not sure about that.

And where did you find cheaper keys for ESET?

yup bitdefender is confirmed to be introducing this soon everywhere, and norton somewhat does this also already. ill check into the rest of them, i have confirmation from both eset and webroot they have no plans to do this. also trend micro i *hear* will be doing something like this soon. its the sad result of people reselling keys dirt cheap mostly on ebay from places like china among others and companies getting burned by it. this has seriously been a issue for norton for a while now. ill check some others and get back to this thread soon.

If I use a VPN with that specific region (i.e UK), it will be no problem right?

What's your current security setup and OS?

Actually I planning to sell it as a part time job. So if my customers purchase the license from me, i can tell them how to activate it. I do not want to leave them in the dark on how to activate it.

they would ALWAYS have to use a vpn then. so if you have customers who decide to travel or go outside their area and dont use a vpn they key may or could get blocked. imo not really a good solution for the average person unless they know what they are doing and or what a vpn is etc..
