Nima
My vote goes for Windows for endless reasons which you all know. ^_^
Guinness
Go Windows. However, it largely depends on the workflow needed. For example, If it´s Autodesk products she works with, Windows is really the only option (AutoCAD for MacOS is useless).Graphisoft and/or Bentley products run great on MacOS, but they work equally well on Windows.IMO, Windows is largely more versatile for Architectural/Moddeling/Graphics production, so go with it. ;) Edited August 12, 2013 by Guinness

tigerjack
Thanks for the suggestions, but I would ask if you have had direct experience or are just your impressions. If it's true what they told me, if I asked the same thing to a Mac user, I would receive the same answers to the contrary. I myself am a Windows user and I would not change a Mac even if I've never tried it. But in this case is different. To better specify programs that will be used is spoken of Autocad, Photoshop, InDesign other rendering programs. @ eurobyn Some examples of laptop with two hdd (one ssd) already assembled ? (To be precise, a laptop to use in Europe) @ izumio How do I know if TRIM is enabled? bye
TuFaS
Windows or Linux!
Rivenson
if you using ssd then dont forget to choose one that support TRIM function Today every ssd on the market supports TRIM , so there's no "option"..Win7 - 8 supports natively Trim command ..as for enabled or not .. Start run (as admin)"fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify"If the result is '0' TRIM is enabled.GOOGLE it.....Cheers
Guinness
...but I would ask if you have had direct experience or are just your impressions...Yes, I do have experience with CAD/Render/Image Manipulation Tools, both in Mac and Windows. But in this case is different. Why is that? What´s different? To better specify programs that will be used is spoken of Autocad, Photoshop, InDesign...As I said on my first post, AutoCAD for Mac is horrible, useless.Adobe Creative Suite software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) runs fine, both on Windows and Mac....other rendering programs. What programs? Like AutoCAD, 3ds Max fo Mac is useless, Maya is buggy as hell, Cinema 4D for Mac is getting better on V10, but not quite there yet.Well, you´ll always have Artlantis! ;)
speedpedal
Buy Both and see why Windows will be your best bet. WE always see Macs in movie scenes, however most movie productions are made with PC's running Windows. The Most sophisticated design programs are Windows based. OK Mac users I'm waiting for the Arrows.
tigerjack
@Guinness I think she uses the programs you mentioned (but I could not ask for too much not to arouse suspicion) ..is different because I will not be using the pc, but a person with completely different needs

tigerjack
Ive noticed a lot of professionals use mac but the general population use windows..They said the same thing ... the professionals use mac ... and that's why I opened this topic. I would like to clear my head and make a suitable gift for an architect.Even the installable programs are expensive or hard to find (with medicine ;) ) do not like the ones for windows. This is no doubt a question that makes you think and that tips the balance toward windows.
Amadeus
Hi TigerjackThis is an architects office. All the computers we use here are iMacs with both operating systems installed, WIn and OSX.We can choose which to startup at boot time. but ...we tend to use one operating system more often than the other.AutoCad, Maya and other professional software except Omniplan (project management) we use here, can run in both enviroments.By the way, Autocad for Mac is as useful and reliable as in WIndows. We are not fanboys, we are not gamers. The most important thing for us is security, stability and graphic´s good quality, that's why we have "two computers in one"Good luck. :)
