Knightmare
I was trying to update my maps but my device said that the memory was full; I deleted the old map and added the new one. When I turned on the TomTom, it told me the map I downloaded wasn't compatible, but now I can't find another version that is compatible. Does anyone know where I can find a map or how to restore the TomTom to factory settings with the old map?

Knightmare
Im no expert on GPS,s but my first question is did you make a backup of your tom-tom using tom-tom home? you need to download tom-tom home HERE chose your country, install, create an account, plug it in and updateI should have but I didn't. I thought the maps were universal.
Journey
You should delete most large files in your map folder before updating or you'll get and out of memory error. They kind of tell you to do that before updating maps (if you're doing it the legal way). Most if not all Tomtom GPS units have about 2 gigs of memory except for one model that has external memory slot. No, not all maps are universal. It all depends on you GPS model number and operating system version number. There's a compatibility chart that tells everything... See chart below.
