I don't save bookmarks in the browser; I use a separate application for collecting and managing bookmarks (LinkStash)

Some notable features of LinkStash:

- 2-pane tree view with slim toolbars and small icons...looks just like the classic Explorer details view in Windows XP !!!!

- Imports bookmarks from Firefox, IE, etc

- Opens a bookmark in selected browser(s) via context menu selection or mouse-click

The main reason I use LinkStash is because it allows my bookmark collection to be portable and independent of any particular browser. Also It allows me to make notes, tags and comments for every bookmark item or group. Also it allows me to color background/foreground of any bookmark item or group.

As far as how many bookmarks I have in there.....thousands !!!!!!!

I have saved every bookmark from every browser I ever used since I started using a computer !!!!!!!

My bookmark saving routine....the way I use LinkStash:

I use two monitors side-by-side. I always run Firefox (version 3.6.28) on the left monitor. I have Linkstash running minimized with its icon in the system tray. When I want to save a URL (bookmark), I click on the LinkStash tray icon and its window opens at right monitor, I drag the Firefox address bar icon into LinkStash and I am done.

BTW.........

Being able to directly interact with other apps via mouse-drag-drop URL's out of the browser (and vice versa) is the number one reason i stayed with Firefox and never changed.

Furthermore, it is also the reason I will NEVER USE OPERA as my main browser; OPERA does not have this feature.

When I use Opera I feel like I am stuck inside some stupid bubble; the whole graphical experience seems covered by transparent alpha-layers and overlays.

This is also the reason I hardly ever download new versions of software anymore too.

I FUCKING HATE the pastel colors and transparency effects and stupid icon sizes of most app GUI's made today.

I also FUCKING HATE eye-candy smooth scrolling bouncy effects like you see on mobile-phones.

I like 100% no-nonsense feedback from my mouse actions and context menus like what you get when using Windows XP in classic/details view.
