LeetPirate
There is 99.9% chance you will never get an android virus BUT phones that cannot update to latest Android OS are the vulnerable ones. I recommend Avast or Kaspersky Mobile Security Lite.
Technology
What is better for Android, why? continue with Android or change to OS Everyone says the most targeted is Android all viruses are there, just bought my smartphone 4 months ago, still new...Android is based on Linux OS, the chances of getting virus is extreme low. If there is, Google will take care of it. Anti virus doesn't protect you on Android, the only it does is scan the apps on their database. Installing Kaspersky, Eset, Avast etc doesn't protect you. Most people don't understand Android and assume it will be infected with virus, merely they are wrong. If you Android OS is update to date, chances are extreme low and if not then install custom rom to update manually.People believe install apps from third party website will make Android infected, trust me I have installed apps from various website and had Lookout running, it didn't check anything the only thing it did was checking app on their database. I also tried Avast, Eset, 360 Mobile Security same result.Install Antivirus is useless on Android platform, even having Task Killer messes up Android more then it use to. Some people installing Anti virus because it has features of Anti Theft, which is one of the best feature, but there are also better apps which only focus on Anti Theft like; Cerberus anti theft with small payment trust me is worth it.If you want my recommendation don't install AV on Android Platform, instead install Anti theft app if you want these feature especially. Technology
Thanks, there is a free version? For? Cerberus Anti Theft..Yes or eset mobile security I will suggest you to get Cerberus Anti Theft, but you have to pay small amount for life time subscription. You can try Cerberus for 7 days trial and see how you find it. You can also try Anti Theft Droid Free, not sure about is features, but check it out. Eset you can try for 30 days, but you have to buy not sure for how much. If you really want Eset features, then go for Lookout which is free and low on battery usage and has some good feature like Anti theft but many users of Android reported that Lookout Anti theft doesn't work properly.. Avast is good as AV, but it drains battery.
Administrator DKT27 Posted August 10, 2013 Administrator Share Posted August 10, 2013 I little off topic, but better to ask. Is there any good "scan only" AV out there? I don't like AVs slowing down my phone, so I only want on-demand scanner.

That will do. :)I personally only found cloud based ones, which I don't need as I hardly go online on my phone, so this seems great.

The AV on Android Platform only scan the apps which they have on their database. AV and Task Killer is useless and messing up apps out there. However, if you really want an AV or even scanner badly, then use Lookout, which doesn't drain battery and runs quietly in the background. ALESSANDRA
Hi Robbie,To stay on topic.. Eset Mobile Security or Kaspersky?? You can't go wrong with either one. They both have got top detection rates and almost none battery dranage.I myself am a Eset Mobile Security user. The new version just got out of beta a couple of days ago. With better features and performance than the previous version.Eset offers a free version and a paid version. You can check out some mobile antivirus reviews here and here.I hope it helps you in your quest :battle:

wnicholas
:shit: Link Blocked  What about a Firewall? :rolleyes:To install firewall on Android, you need to be rooted.what a load of nonsense have you heard of "no root firewall"? search for it in play store before you post responses that hold no water..and as for android malware there was a 400% increase between 2010 and 2011 and i suspect it is on the increase. do a bit of research on google. An antivirus IS necessary just to ensure that no malware slips the net. Rooted handsets are more at risk as not all rooting exploits are safe and besides they expose the core of your system to be exploited by malware. I personally use Avast! with the anti theft module installed. it operates at par if not better than the commercial apps out there...and even beter. IT'S FREEEEEEE! ;) Edited August 10, 2013 by wnicholas
