Windows 8.1 build 9477 reportedly in the hand of OEMs ahead of RTM

kas5.jpg

The Chinese are good for quite a few things, such as cheap durable goods and having no qualms about ripping off brand names of popular US brands. Additionally, they are also quite good about leaking upcoming gadgets and letting us know when Microsoft releases updated builds of Windows to its OEM partners.

Win8China is reporting that build 9477 has been sent off to the OEMs for testing and that the platform has reportedly entered the escrow stage, which means that features are now locked down. Provided the above is true, Microsoft is in full-swing to hit its deadline of reaching RTM in August.
As we have already seen, Windows 8.1 will bring a boatload of new features to the Windows 8 platform and has been referred to by Steve Ballmer as a ‘refined blend’ of the Windows 8 formula. One of the biggest changes the update will bring is the return of the famous Start button; in addition, there are many improvements to the new Modern UI as well.
Microsoft is hoping that Windows 8.1 will help to improve the consumer perception of Windows 8 as it has often been reported that the lack of a Start button and the new Modern UI have been jarring to new users.
It’s clear that Windows 8.1 is the result of Microsoft listening to consumer feedback and - seeing the significant changes that the update brings to the platform - if you don’t like something about the update, it’s best that you let Microsoft know.

someone there

Thank you for sharing.

I am glad that they don't bring back start menu as Tihiy's StartIsBack + is far better than the original start menu in windows 7 with many newly added features such as custom folders.

"Seems MS decided to be sneaky bastard and slip KMS V6 in just before RTM, they must have had the code all along and didn't want it scrutinized till RTM, because they went to KMS V5 with public BETA of Windows 8.
It probably can be cracked by a reverser, though we're going to need a KMS Server to test against, and hope they can't do anything about KMS PID yet.
I'll likely mark Windows 8.1 as unsupported by MTK until we have a working method for it.
Also, it means we can expect next Office (will they do an Office 2014 or 2016?) will make use of KMS V6."

Might have to wait even longer to download from Store now. :( .

lol they can not do anything about activating leak keys tho it will be leak one way or other beside if its free upgrade paying customer it should work with older activated keys anyway, however i am pretty sure soon after someone will come out with the cure of KMS Activation regardless how hard M$ tries there will always be medicine.

@ra1n

Untill leaked keys become available or MDL work their magic , a leaked RTM ISO will be of no use, and it will be a long wait for RTM to go to GA and available through Store. I was hoping to install it within a couple of weeks :lol: .

It was the same case Windows 8.1 customer preview we did not need to wait till it was on the Windows Store as soon as it is on MSDM Sub. then same day it will leak on internet cause there are guys has account can download and upload torrent side within few hours.

Finger cross and expecting by next week i will get my hand on it.

@ ra1n

I know that , but how to activate it ? (without a leaked key and MTK not working at present the ISO is useless).

I know that , but how to activate it ?

I am pretty sure MAK or Retail Keys will work on this new build. Cause existing user who activate with one of those keys will not get new activation keys, they can upgrade on the top of Windows 8, there is not any difference the keys we have in the forum!

I will let everyone know more about it when i get my hands on Windows 8.1 anyway!

@ra1n

Yes, if Win 8 is activated by MAK or Retail key you will download the free Win8.1 upgrade from the Store when 8.1 RTM goes GA.

But i believe the Win8.1 ISO will need a Win8.1 key to activate, therefore a clean installation can't be activated till new 8.1 keys found or we have working MTK.

@tezza

What about kms? We just have to wait until microsoft releases the update to support windows 8.1 RTM and then kms servers will pop up everywhere.

Even you do clean installation what's the difference from Widows 8 i still believe key and Phone Activation method working on Windows 8 it will work same way as Windows 8.1. say i own company i have my own MAK Keys and i decided to reformat my hard drive and install Windows 8.1 i use same key i bought for Windows 8. Therefore MAK and Retail key working on clean install Windows 8 should work clean install Windows 8.1.

Again time will show, only Microsoft will introduce online key validation as they have done on Windows 7 has not implemented Windows 8 or Office 2013 yet.

Goggle Translation:
Everything will be very simple and even mundane:
1. I now uploaded KMSmicro, remember Che as yes
2. We are waiting for an update for the CCM server with the new protocol from M $ and install it in KMSmicro (Remembering, KMSmicro - this is the full CCM Server, and not some kind of emulator!)
3. We look forward to when one of the respected members of the forum will send CSVLK key
4. I Zhenya and I embed it all in KMSmicro
5. And now you have to get a working set of activation. Curtain.
He is only looking for leak CSVLK key for Windows 8.1 update his KMS Tools.

I'm not an expert either but I have an idea with the old key. Let's just wait for microsoft to release the update to support windows 8.1 then we will see if my idea works.

Even more bad news

Mary Jo Foley claims that her sources have told her that Microsoft are "not planning to make available the final Windows 8.1 bits to its MSDN or TechNet subscribers shortly after the release RTMs." This is terrible news for everyone. With Windows 8, TechNet and MSDN users gained access to the RTM 2 weeks after the bits went final. This time we won't be getting it until October.

M$ really screwing us over now :rant:

rtm in october read this in the verge as well

changing kms, no iso from msdn and wzor not around, there was talk of a validity check for store download hope that does not come true. wonder if a partner will leak rtm iso but doubt it.
