Hello.

My daughter's computer is now non internet functioning.

See image.

post-58543-0-43973800-1375535321_thumb.p

I need a fix so she can use the internet.

I thought I could click on 'Unidentified' and change it to Home, but no I can't.

So help as this is not my forte.

Thanks in advanced Lee

click manage wireless connections on the left

delete which ever connection it is you want to connect to

then try connecting again (it'l ask you to re-enter your password) & re-create the settings.

1; if this fails restart the router (try again)

2; make sure the wifi encryption is set right on the router (try again)

Edit

isit only wifi that fails or both cable and wifi?

It's not working, done everything that has been suggested on all the sites I posted this problem on.

If my stupid daughter had not deleted the Norton Ghost folder on her 1tb usb drive, I would had been done and no need to post for other help.

Thanks for the reply.

I have removed network, software for wirless u.s.b. key and flushed d.n.s. cache, Ivp4 and Iv6 flushed.

Re-booted.

Reinstalled everything, network related.

The computer is a HP with on drive D the operating system.

I would have done a factory reset, however when in the program files under HP tools and the menu to restore, it's

greyed out and declares it (software) cannot find restore image.

I would rather do an image restore, but can't.

I did make D active hoping to boot to D and thus start a restore, no banana on that one.

Hello again.

It's the Ipv4 config that is the problem.

If I could edit it on my daughters - see below.

post-58543-0-19892000-1375604863_thumb.p

My daughter should be 192.168.0.3

Compared to my sons - see below.

My daughter created this problem by using some dongle for her nintendo hand held game.

This is actually the third time I have had this problem in two years, except the last two times I restored an image from Norton, however she deleted all the ghost images.

HP System restore doesn't see restore partition even though it's Drive D and has the files on it, so cannot do a factory restore.

So help please in changing the IPv4 address.

Thanks

Lee

It seems that your daughter`s laptop has Windows 7 installed , is it ?

Sometimes it helps if you disable the network device (in your case `Wireless Network Device`) and then re-enable it ... did you try ?

You have to uninstall that dongle from her`s laptop , RevoUninstaller can do that job very well for you , after that reboot and your connection should be fine then .

It's a desktop.

I have done everything I have learn't in 22 years of using the internet and done before everything else mentioned.

Have you tried to use Windows "System Restore" by choosing a date when you may think that your daughter's internet connection was working fine?

you can try to reset winsock and tcp/ip

use this

http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/repair_winsock_dns_cache.html

or Windows Repair (All In One) which contain other repair tool also

just make sure to make registry backup and system restore..Windows Repair AIO can help you to do the backup
