amuk
I too have been using WIn8 since it came out. On my PC it is slower than Win7 though maybe a little more stable. The "Modern" apps are ridiculous though. Suitable for a handheld device only, it makes the PC experience much more fatiguing if you have a touchscreen.Ergonomically, WIndows 8 is doomed to cause all kinds of workplace injuries from lifting your arms and waving your hands and fingers to achieve productivity whereas a slight motion and click of a mouse is all that's needed in the Windows desktop.Office workers cannot deal with all the large muscle and joint movement that is necessary in using Win 8 on a large touch screen. Win 8 is doomed by it's own design. Maybe the kernel will be saveable to use in a new desktop version in the future.
MidnightDistortions
I completely agree. Its all about getting the youngsters to get used to paying for EVERYTHING.So they just accept it as normal.,soon they will want links to bank accounts direct so we can keep trickle feeding them our money.Exactly. It's bad enough people pay for bottled water or we deal with higher gas prices. Oh and i walked into an auto part store the other day asking for the rubber portion of wiper blades and the guy said, "they're pretty much the same price". I don't need the metal bracket, that works.. but the rubber scraper came off so i just ended up gluing it back together. Works just fine now.Basically in this world you have to either be rich or have to be innovative on what is worth fixing and what is worth replacing. Windows didn't need UI fixing yet MS felt it was necessary to redesign it for easy money making.
