I prefer VirtualBox. I find it much faster than VMWare, and it makes less of a mess of your system.

VIRTUAL BOX is much faster than VMWARE

Virtual box does not take over whole cpu while VMWARE make my pc hung.

so +1 for VIRTUAL BOX and +1 for freewares

Always used vmware workstation. Can have problems with install and uninstall sometimes. Apart from that works great.

I have no idea about fastest so try both. Free first, and see which you prefer. I wouldn't bother with any except these 2.

Workstation used to have more options, snapshots etc but it sounds like Box is catching up nowdays.

VMWare Workstation is my favorite, but if you want something FREE, then I recommend VirtualBox.
