november_ra1n
How To Permanently Block Ads In Skype [updated 25 May 2015]Before we begin - this article does not promise a 100% solution, only a handful of workarounds that will help you enjoy Skype without having to uninstall it. I wanted to make this clear upfront to avoid minutes of frustrating and misleading reading. Now, that we know we are going to be enjoying a less-than-perfect solution to Skype's most annoying features, let's move on.1. Skype Home Advertisement.Work-around:I have started this topic on 29 June 2013, blocking website via host file has been working fine till now but not any more.. Here is another solution blocking Skype adds, tested working nicely at the moment:Go to the location below:Control Panel > Internet Option > Security > Restricted Site > SitesAdd this website to the zone:http://apps.skype.comhttps://apps.skype.comhttp://g.msn.com/https://g.msn.com/Hit Add & Right click on the desktop Refresh the System....******************************************************************To disable the placeholder, you’ll need to open “Windows Explorer” and paste the following into your address bar:C:\Users\[Your Windows Username Here]\AppData\Roaming\Skype\Skype Account Name\config.xmlAfter that, you’ll have to click the folder with your Skype ID, right click “config.xml” and open it in Notepad. Now, hit “Ctrl + F” and paste AdvertPlaceholder into your search box.Change the line <AdvertPlaceholder>1</AdvertPlaceholder> to<AdvertPlaceholder>0</AdvertPlaceholder>Restart Skype and then you’ll be finished.******************************************************************Fixing the contacts view:Go to --> Option --> IM Appearance --> Tick “Compact Chat View” --> click “Save.”Compact Chat View acts similarly to Compact Sidebar View, shrinking avatars and compressing all the text closer together. As a result, you’re able to see more of your conversations without the bubble graphics taking up quite as much, giving you around three more lines of text in a typical usage scenario. Enjoy Skype without add.. : )** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ **2. At the bottom of the client contact list. [#This work-around apply older version of Skype!#]Work-around:Go to Tools > Options > Notification Setting > Alert & messagesUnchecked both optionnovember_ra1n 25 May 2015

Administrator DKT27 Posted June 29, 2013 Administrator Share Posted June 29, 2013 Thanks. The first one worked great. :)As for the second one, I don't see any such ad (not using any system-wide adblocker). Maybe because I'm in Skype mini view? november_ra1n
or you can use AM , it stops them also .10x nr :)AdMuncher does not stop this nasty large Microsoft Advertisement add on the top of the Skype not even blocking via host file does but adding website in Restricted area via control panel did the job at the moment. PS: I did not manually add the URL IN AdMucher thay may stop too.
