Need help with audio driver in netbook

Hi, guys! I was given an HP Mini 110-4300la netbook to fix because of viruses and slowness. Owner told me it was having problem with audio (low volume, even with putting it at 100%). I've found it didn't have drivers installed (only Microsoft default audio driver). When I installed it, it said "Driver can't start (error 10)". I've reinstalled and uninstalled, but the same error happens. How can I fix it? Thanks in advance :)

I have noticed no one has mentioned this but I am going too.....always use oem recommended drivers for lappys. The reason I stress this to people is because oem manufactures alter the drivers to fit their own configs. If you are trying to use a driver from the manufacture of the sound card you will more then likely run into issues. Goto the oem manufacture like in your case HP and get drivers from them. Sometimes their newest drivers listed arent the best choice for the machine so lets say if v1.3 dont work for an example look on HP site for the v1.2 and try that one. HP sometimes doesnt test on older models they just update it to work with newer ones and that might not be best for the machine you are working on. This has been my experience over the last 10 yrs of repairing computers. Hope this helps. Let us know how it turns out.

i've never had any problems with getting manufacturer drivers. they address problems or issues quicker and release updates quicker (relatively speaking) than OEMs. OEMs, as a rule, are, in one word, LAZY

one of my favorite sites for drivers is www.station-drivers.com

a driver downloader tool like driver genius is very helpful in identifying drivers. you don't necessarily have to use the tool itself to download drivers but once you have use it to identify which driver is required, google is very helpful to track down the latest available release for your particular operating system... ;)

Like I said they edit the drivers per the model config....why they dont update that fast plus not needed if it is working with that older model....most updates are addressing new models of that hardware in this case the sound card. This isnt true of all OEM hardware drivers but some are taylored to their own config.

Also just because it is the newest driver doesnt mean it work or work better with an older model lappy. I have been doing this way too long and I know first hand from personal experience how much a pain drivers can be. People can take the advice or not. Just trying to save this person some time and frustration. Anyways, hope all goes well.

If you take a closer look at the audio driver that's linked on my previous post - you'll realize that it's an OEM driver. :)

Yes I see it is OEM but I thought others might want to know why use OEM instead of the manufacture of the sound card instead is all (that wasnt mentioned). The comment really wasnt meant directed to you in any way but in general as to why use OEM over the sound card manufacture for other members including the person asking the question. Sorry if I stepped on your toes, didnt mean too.
