Media Player Classic Home Cinema 1.2.908.0

MPC.pngMedia Player Classic Home Cinema is a rewriten version of Windows Media Player 6 which was then open sourced and released under the GNU GPL. The interface is similar to the MS original but is a little more up-to-date, XP friendly, comes with some more advanced features, and doesn’t have the annoyances of the original. But probably the best thing about this player is the range of formats it supports. It'll play just about anything you throw at it, whether it's an MP3, an Ogg, a WMA, even a QuickTime file. Media Player Classic - Home Cinema application was designed to be a Media Player Classic but for homecinema usage.

Thanks to Bizarre™ for the update.

no

it doesn't even come close to match with VLC

It doesn't have language selecting option (dual, tri audio langs for anime ex.), and it sure as hell can't convert something to something

its only meant for video playback with a much smoother quality that the previous media player classic

It *does* have lang selection on dual streams.

Just click right button over display area -> Audio -> and you'll see audio streamsto switch instantly.

IMO MPC-HC is a full featured player without unneded things.

i love this program for its DXVA (bitstream acceleration over the GPU) support and its awesome filters makes everything looks delicious :D

Wha?! When setup properly, MPC:HC is easily the best software of this type out there. With CoreAVC (or, even with FFDShow), the h264 rendering is strides ahead of VLC. The interface is much more streamlined with better features and an easier to use interface. There are two things VLC is good for: People who are too lazy to take the five minutes required to properly setup their codecs, and people who aren't able to in any way modify the computer they're on.

And, why you'd use a video -player- to convert stuff is beyond me.

Edit:

uhm??how bout the video quality???

Video quality is generally dependant on the decoder and not the actual software taking advantage of said decoder. It just so happens VLC uses only its built-in codecs.

Great article (i can't use DXVA due to my old FX5900, but i could see The Simpsons Movie almost flawlessly with MPC-HC).
