Im using windows 8 on my desktop computer, however recently I noticed, I tried using the balanced and high performance power option, I got the same result.I checked in the device manager, to see the mouse and keyboard is enable to wake this device.I also set the power option for the computer to never sleep. But i get the same result, whenever the display turns off, the display does not come on back.I have restart the computer before I can see the screen again.I have a Radeon hd7770 videocard which i connect the monitor too via a dvi cable. I also have the latest catalyst control center. The desktop is also a hp pavillion hp H8-1240t.What could be the problem?

Try to do a clean install of your video drivers.

I've had the same problem with a Radeon HD4870 in Vistax64 a couple of years ago and it was solved parcially by this way.

Download the uninstaller from AMD.

When I've had that problem and to avoid restarting my PC, I just opened the task manager via ALT+CTRL+DEL.

Good luck.
